The only people they asked to throw out the first pitch were already in the building. Foulke lives in Boston and they didn't ask him. He was only there was because he called them.
Absolutely. Schilling was vital and his contributions to the 2004 team are far more relevant than his politics. If...
Hopefully the change Kimbrel made to his delivery is really what was making him struggle, but either way he has lost himself a ton of money over the past month. All the talk about Kimbrel being the first $100 million closer look pretty laughable now.
And I'm glad Cora continued to trust Price...
I have more confidence in them vs Price for sure, but not on 3 days rest. Sale has done it once in his career and was awful. Porcello has never done it. Price is a roll of the dice, but starting everyone on 3 days rest is an even bigger one.
And then? Everyone on 3 days rest? Start Price in...
The Marlins agreed to a trade with the Cardinals. Stanton rejected it. They agreed to a trade with the Giants. Stanton rejected it. Stanton had a short list of teams he wanted to go to, and NYY was one of the few.
Price has great numbers against Houston the past several years, and was the only Sox pitcher who pitched well against them in the postseason. It was as a reliever, but he still performed extremely well in high leverage innings against a great team. Houston doesn't have as good of an offense as...
Stanton had a list of teams he would accept a trade to, and Boston was not on that list. There are numerous reports of Stanton not wanting to come to Boston and rejecting trades to multiple other teams. It's a fun narrative that the ex-yankee gave his old team a sweetheart deal to get him, but...
Boxer has it right. Any of these teams could completely bulldoze the competition, and whoever peaks at the right time will win it.
However Houston will be lucky to win their division at this point. Their pitching is still solid (though Verlander and Cole have been shaky recently), but their...
For sure. Would have been a more competitive series with those two playing. Though the Sox would have been even better with Sale, Rodriguez, Devers and Kinsler.
That was a fun series. 4 game sweep of the Yankees, some great pitching, a blowout, and a come from behind victory against Chapman. This team fights until the last out.
Everything about this sounds like it's the Hellenic Flu. As mentioned, Sale generally gets less effective in September, so a 10 day break in early August might help him out. They've kept his pitch counts and innings lower than last season, and this is probably just another way to keep him fresh...
Excellent defense, and while his overall line looks nothing special, he's hit a whole lot better lately(.320/.393/.467 this month). Either way a huge upgrade over Nunez.
Dombrowski has done well. Pearce, Eovaldi and Kinsler for a bunch prospects too old for their levels. Just rentals, but...
Always seems to work out that way lol. And just on cue, NYY is complaining about their upcoming schedule that gives them few off days and forces them into playing 3 games in 24 hours in early July. Those rain outs and early season off days can really make the rest of the season more difficult.
