Reiss thinking Reggie Bush will be a Patriot

Reiss may be batting .1000 this offseason. Bush is in the building.

For all those lamenting Revis’ departure…. Remember… Revis was once upon a time a draftee as well…. a first rounder, but a draftee nonetheless…. You never know who may fall to our laps.

Revis is a planet player. They are rare, even at the very top of the draft.

We rally need to stop underselling the loss of Revis. It makes the fan base look like clowns.

Deus I don't really think anybody is underselling his loss. We all know the guy was the equivalent to Brady or Gronk on the other side of the ball.

However - we can make up his loss in other ways, both by getting better in the front 7 (Sheard signing is a good first step, and don't forget a Pro Bowl caliber LB is returning). And by getting better on offense.

Yes, people are underselling his loss. It's making us look like a joke to other fan bases.

For me it's not about underselling the loss, it's just acknowledging that we had little choice in the matter and "planet players" can't be replaced like for like. It's better to appreciate what he added last year and move on. We were winners pre-Revis, we'll be winners post-Revis.

I hear you. Regardless of how you/I feel about the Patriots not bringing him back, he's gone. I'm just tired of watching former players being minimized. It makes us look like fools.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention - but I haven't seen too much underselling of Revis' worth on this forum, to be honest.

Come on. The post I quoted was doing it.

I stayed away from the forum for a couple of days after his loss so I have no idea what was being said.

I basically feel the same as the manx and I believe yourself too, I'm not underselling him one bit, but he's not coming back and there is no replacement.

I'm full steam ahead on the "upgrade the front 7" train, as there are no CB's worth bringing in, though a Lewis trade is still interesting.

Who cares what they think. They are the same jealous asses who mob around deflated footballs and cameras.

They're not jealous of the fan base. You can trust me on this one.

I don't think I can live though another 2010 or 2011. Offense scores. Opposing team scores. Can't stop teams on 3rd down. Ugh...
Even right now I'd say that our defense is much better than 2011 in all areas except defensive tackle.

I would agree.

It's gonna be Community Auditions at CB for a while until they get it sorted out...

I think the people overselling his loss look like whiney clowns if you ask me.

We made it to 3 AFCCGs in a row without Revis, including a SB. He's an amazing player, there is no debating that even for a second.. and like I said at the very beginning of the year, he's a mercenary and wanted to go back to the Jets.. he's gone...its time to move on. .

And its still conceivable that you can weaken your secondary but make your overall team stronger by strengthening other areas with multiple players for the money you didn't spend on Revis.. that's why you put a value on players... its the value that you feel they're worth for the skill set they bring vs the risk of their contract compared to what you could do with that money elsewhere once it goes over a certain amount.

BB felt that he went beyond that value, to where that amount of money could be better spent elsewhere to make the team as a whole better.

Revis wanted to be a Jet, Woody wanted him to be a Jet, and now he's a Jet.. so the Pats have moved on and are making moves to improve their roster and try to repeat...

It's perfectly reasonable that there are fans, like me, that don't feel it productive or healthy to just dwell on the fact that Revis wasn't resigned and talk about how we're a doomed franchise now that will never sniff a SB again because of ONE man. That's not the Patriots philosophy or culture.. they couldn't get it done.. they used Revis and Revis used them.. it resulted in a FOURTH super bowl title.. now he's gone so its time to focus our attention forward, not back.

There is a reason that your front windshield of your car is substantially larger than your rear view mirror... because what's infront of you is more important than what is behind you.

Revis is gone and that was a drag, but there is plenty to be excited and happy about with these new additions that the Patriots are signing with that extra money.

Why do you Think that ? Also our corners ?

Our corners that year were McCourty (who's MUCH better as a safety), Arrington, Antwan Moulden, and Sterling Moore. It was also Chung's worst year and he was our BEST safety, playing next to Sergio Brown and James Ihedigbo. I'll take this secondary, corners included over that one, though there's still time to improve it as well.
