Will see, drafting Maye prob got him the job but let’s be honest taking Maye at 3 wasn’t difficult.
My point is you don't have a guy run your draft if you're going to hire someone else. There might have been a point early in the off-season where Kraft hadn't decided based on that war room it looks like it's a formality now.

Yeah I’m looking forward to the team interviewing candidates for GM after the draft. I don’t think Wolf has done a lot to secure the job imo.
Again, I could just get the Ourlads draft publication and outdo rounds 2 and 3 and round 1 was an absolute no-brained.

Not a great one... maybe not even a good one.

Patrick Paul
6-8 331
5.13 forty
29.0 vertical
30 bench
7.65 cone
4.71 shuttle
86 ¼ wingspan 36 ¼ arms

Caedan Wallace
6-5 314
5.15 forty
31.0 vertical
No bench
7.73 cone
4.96 shuttle
82 5/8 wingspan 34 arms

Not even sure he's a tackle, if he struggles they'll have to move him inside. Look at the ^ wingspan disparity.

His mobility isn't good. His vertical (explosion) is good and his forty is good... beyond that he didn't bench which is problematic. If he's weak he'll be a bench player this season.

This seems like they realized they screwed up after a massive run on tackles and desperately took a guy.

No dispute from me on that comparison. My hope tonight was a trade down and to take Paul mid round hoping to pick up a second 3rd. Wolf or whomever didn’t get that done just like he failed last night to trade up to the late 1st for a lot more talented player. I made several posts on this thread despairing over their inaction regarding OT. I agree this looks like they reached for Wallace after coming up a day late and dollar short with 12 OTs taken before Wallace, but let’s give the guy and the new coaches a chance to develop the kid.

I would have been more than OK using 34 or 37 on someone like DeJean, McKinstry, or Powers-Johnson even though I think their more critical needs are at WR and LT. I am fully onboard with 2024 being a rebuilding year even though as a STH I hate having paid a premium price for tickets to watch a rebuilding team, but to this point other than the Maye pick I haven’t been impressed with who’ve they’ve added to improve the talent level.

Fun Day One.
Then more Nkeal Harry and Strange reaches.
Too bad.

Polk wasn't a reach. Pretty much every WR that was ahead of him was off the board. Only one's that weren't were Mitchell who Chiefs, 49ers and Bills all passed on when they took WRs and Franklin who still hasn't been draft as of right now

and Wallace they were in the part of the draft where you if you are picking an OL you pick the guy you like the most that's still on your board.

Don’t fall for it. The hope was drafting an experienced RT at 68. Not Caedan Wallace. But Blake Fisher.

The run on OTs, however, continued in the second more than most projected.

Credit the Patriots. They did their due diligence on this player.

Well I didn't have Wallace rated that highly. Truthfully he was not even on my radar as a possible tackle candidate.

But gotta keep in mind that he is a 3rd round pick.

Could we have moved up for Kingsley? Yes.

But the Patriots apparently thought this Wallace kid was gonna be their guy in round 3 anyways.

We have no idea how highly they had Saumataia rated. They could have rated him in the early 100's for all we know.

I'm thinking for now Wallace projects as RT and they will give him a tryout in camp to see if he can handle LT.

If he's only successful as an RT, that would kick Onwenu back inside to guard, even though we paid him like a tackle.

But hey line depth is line depth. We have an extra 4th round pick so it's gonna be interesting where we go on Day 3.

Honestly, I hope we double dip at the tackle and WR positions.

Maybe they went for their 'safe' projections on Day 2 and they will roll the dice more on 'upside' on Day 3 and in particular in round 4.

If the Patriots draft plan was: Upside Day 1, Play it Safe Day 2, Upside Day 3 with some backups or projects mixed in, is it really that bad of a plan?

Yeah they didn't have a plan B basically.

We could all see the need to trade up from our couches.
Trading BACK? They know there are only 53 roster spots, right?

Don’t mind me, I’m just tired and grumpy. After RD 1 gobbled up QBs, WRs and left so many interesting and really high-ceiling guys on the board, I wanted to see done wheeling and dealing.

We've been doing this kind of thing for years. Cole Strange is a 3rd rounder, Tyquan a 4th rounder. Based on what? Based on the mock of mocks which shows where all the Scouts are placing players. Polk and Wallace are both early based on what the mock drafts were showing us.
NFL scouts don't publish mock drafts. Mel Kiper and his clones publish mock drafts.
They know much less what NFL scouts know.

Well we went qb/wr/ot as most of us hoped. I woulda preferred a trade up for suamataia to caeden but overall cant be too mad. Im liking polk more and more

When Rosengarten got selected KC traded up and took Kingsley with the very next pick. That's what we should've done.

Can you show us a mock that had Wallace above a 6th round pick?

I don’t know the kid, but a few people like him, so we will have to wait & see

So the people drafting for the Pats must be idiots.

Any chance of watching these players play before deciding that they are bad picks?

Why exactly do they need a RT?
