I think you're right, though probably Zappe is after Milton, with Zappe on the PS and Milton making the roster.
The way they talked predraft, I assume they want Maye to sit and work on improving his footwork and decision making. But who knows. Maybe if he does well in camp, they decide to make...
Yeah, I think he likes McCarthy's style of play better. I would have preferred he gotten a better OT at 23. Probably we're not looking at the two WRs we got, and whoever we did get as WR would probably have resulted in more groans.
The problem here is that the Pats gave Wolf the job in everything but title. They gave him the job and if he failed, they wanted to have the option of hiring someone else. But they're happy with his performance and now want to make it permanent. And real, qualified candidates are like, "Hell no...
I think Bill would have drafted a QB again. I don't think it would have been Maye. Gotten a cheap vet (very possibly Brisket). And probably wouldn't have drafted Milton. That might be my own bias thinking that it's a bad idea to have two developmental QBs, but maybe the QB he drafted would have...
Yeah, the Patriots, as his employer, revealing it would be a HIPAA violation. But I got the sense that Anderson didn't want it out there either. I wonder why now. Odd.
Yeah, I can see that. But if we go Brisset, Maye and Milton and neither Maye nor Milton are ready, but Brisset is injured, then what do they do? Go with Maye anyway? Bring in a guy off the street?
I think Milton is the kind of guy you draft once you're finished with the first QB project...
Maybe it's me, but Milton feels like a repeat of Malik Cunningham last year. I would have rather kept Rourke through camp and seen if he had enough to be a solid 2/3.
Anderson is the interesting one to me because LT is a big question mark right now. it could be Okorafor. It could be Anderson. it could be Wallace. It could be one of the others. One of them needs to step up. Maybe the year off really helped Anderson get in football shape. Or more likely he's a...
I think Strange is like Chung. Chung wasn't worth his draft pick and then got misused. He left and then came back on a cheap deal and he played great for the rest of his career here.
Given up on:
Zappe
TT
Not given up on:
Strange
Ryland
Juju
Boutte
But if those last three don;t look good in camp, they move to the "given up on" list.
Sometimes rookies have bad first seasons and then turn it around. Sometimes they don’t. He’s on a rookie contract, so no harm in seeing what he has in camp.
Sure. I just think that if Mayo wins, then not as many people will care about his philosophies or say that they're helping him connect to today's players. And if he loses, everything he does will get bashed. We just really have no idea how he's going to be at the actual job of coaching.
