The Patriots appear to have plenty of cap room, and perhaps it was by design. This year seems to have an unusually deep and talented free agent pool. I think that Patriots should sign these players. If they would have to go over the cap (who knows - this is a wish list - not a legit plan), BB...
I remember that during BB's Monday interview on WEEI, he mentioned his reasoning for kneeling on the ball at the end of the first half. He mentioned being on the 11 yard line. He also mentioned there was wind (I forget if they were with/against at that point) that factored into his decision...
When thinking about this, I'm reminded of a story. I forget the source, so I'll paraphrase here. If you don't know what Mancala is, replace the word 'bean' with 'point', and you'll understand the story.
I think this story provides a good basis to discuss how the Patriots play once they have...
I'd like to talk about teams that, when down by 10+ points, punt early in the 4th quarter.
Oakland started a drive with 8:21 remaining in the 4th quarter. At the time they were down 31-13, making it a 3 score game. They punted at the end of this drive. Oakland had two more possessions for the...
Dave Duerson Found to Have the Brain Trauma He Suspected - NYTimes.com
Dave Duerson played on the 1990 Giants Championship team (Which won the SB in calendar year 1991), which BB was the defensive coordinator for.
I think this is interesting because it has implications for the NFL as a whole...
Q: What did you do yesterday as coaches?
BB: Oh, we played golf - golf, bowling, a little badminton tournament, ate some watermelon, played cards.
Q: That sounds relaxing.
BB: Yeah, it was nice.
Q: Did you get ready for the Jets?
BB: Totally about the Jets, other than the pony...
Did anyone else think this call was bogus?
I saw BM have position on the WR, and I saw him playing the ball. Then I saw the WR come out of his break and run into the back of Meriweather, and get a PI call.
Did anyone else see it that way?
Post your thoughts about the 2009 Patriots (and the NFL as a whole) in this thread. I'll begin.
-The high point of this season was the Colts game about partway through the third quarter. The Pats' have had ups and downs since then, but none as high as that point.
-The low point of the...
Here's an article explaining why the Colts always rest near the end of the season, from Dec 1 (I think from 2009):
Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian: Concept of late-season rust and momentum ?pure fantasy?
It seems like the ghosts of Polian's past muddle his current decision making...
Here's what happened on the field near the end of the second quarter, within the 2:00 for a booth review:
1. Brady throws a long(ish) pass to Welker who obviously did not catch the ball. It was ruled a catch.
2. Pats rush to the line and spike the ball.
3. Refs come in and say "The pass...
I'll tell you. Practice makes perfect.
What do you do if you don't do something as well as you'd like to? You do it over and over again until you are good at it. Brady's problem is game-speed sync with his receivers. How does he get better? Practice Practice Practice.
I'm surprised...
With all the recent hubbub about Peppers this and Peppers that, I figured our message board could use a good read up on peppers.

Suppose Brady gets a career-ending injury in college...
Would the Steelers win the SB in 2001 and in 2004? IMHO they would have gone both of those years. Imagine if the Patriots were stuck in mediocrity this whole time.. AND the Steelers had 8 SBs instead of 6?
It seems, as with any good team, the people responsible for that get promoted and become head coaches other places.
It has happened with Tony Dungy, it has happened with Mike Holmgren, and it is happening with BB.
What it creates, however, is this over-demand for certain types of players...
Simple question: Did the Pats stay on the west coast this week?
I haven't seen it talked about, but it seemed like it got positive feedback from players the last time they did it. I recall Rodney saying it was the best thing for the team (despite the loss).
The biggest flaw with your 2008 Patriots is their pass defense. (Surprising, I know)
Blame it on the scheme, the pass rush, the injuries, the coverage, or whatever. I'm just relaying the facts from the ColdHardFootballFacts.
Opposing QBs of the 2008 New England Patriots (through week 13)...
