Would Mangini be so cold and throw the game?

Mangini doesn't have to throw the game. Bret Favre will lose it

for him by playing another lousy game.

Not even sure the Jets have to throw it. They are looking horrible for weeks now.

But, I am sure Mangini would not want the Pats in the playoffs.

All this talk about whether Mangini would throw the game and what time the game will be on deflects from the true question, will the Jets even play a competitive enough game to even be in a position to throw it anyway. I don't know if the Jets can beat the Dolphins if they try their hardest.

Ah, there's the rub, isn't it. The Dolphins are playing much, much better than the Jets. They have something like 12 turnovers all year. I think this is going to turn out just like in 2002, when we needed Favre to step up and beat the Jets after we beat Miami...I believe the score was 41-7 Jets. Jacksonville arguably has a better chance against the Ravens (well, maybe that's overstating it, but I would be shocked if the Jets win).

I think that it is a longshot that the Jets beat Miami.

If the game kicks-off with the Jets having been eliminated, I see a 0% chance of a Jets win. A veteran team that a month ago thought it was going to the Super Bowl getting motivated to play for pride in a meaningless spoiler role isn't going to happen.

If the NFL moves the Jets game to later in the day and they throw it, I suggest Patriot nation band together and boycott the playoffs. The NFL should know better than to screw us over that blatantly.

Re: Can we stop worry about jets throwing a game ? We need to beat bills first !!

So true. If they lose they lose any sniff of a post season. If they win they still have 2 ways in to the post season. We lose= Jest in or Ravens lose= Jest in.

So why would they throw the game? They spite themselves more than us.

Well, it's really more "We lose". Because if we win and the Ravens lose, we get in, not the Jets.

if they put the pats on nbc that'd be great. but they most likely wont

Mangini playing to lose would be like slashing his own throat to frame Belichick for murder. Yes, he would end the Patriots' season but he would likely end his career in the process. Costing Belichick a shot at the playoffs for a single season could cost him his job forever.

Belichick comes back next season with Brady, uses this season as fuel if kept out of the playoffs at 11-5 and goes on to win the Lombardi. The Rat is left to polish the rings he earned working for Belichick and knows his NFL career crashed and burned. Poetic and satisfying, yet I am betting, like a rat leaving a sinking ship, he plays for survival and goes for the win next week.

a playoff spot is lot more impt to jets than BB right now. they havent won anything recently . Utlimately miami is playing better football right now which is the bigger threat.

if i were womangini i'd want to leave the jets on a win, not a loss

I thought I heard the only way for the Jets to get to the playoffs was winning the division.

They need the Pats to lose and them to win.

That is why I think the Jets/Phins should be @ 1pm and Pats/Bills @ 4pm, so there is no chance of mischief by the Jets.

No. Because unless the Pats are up by 3-4 TDs in the fourth, a Jets win could still win the division if the Pats lose. Both games are at 1PM.

It's going to get flexed. They can't take an NFC game.

It's official the SD/Denver game is for the AFC West. The likelihood of either AFC East game getting moved to 4 PM has dwindled quite a bit.

Not true, it has increased because the 8PM slot will be DEN/SD so they need a game with some playoff implications for 4PM. I think Jets-Miami gets moved, though I haven't looked at the other choices.

By the way... the way the jets have been going, if he were to try to lose they would likely end up winning!

Of course the Jets will be out to win, and I think they will, so they have chance to get in...no question.

Dolphins look really great....against ALL LAST PLACE teams... following our beat down on them

I agree on both counts. The Jets have to produce now - they are not a work in progress and have all the parts they are likely to get and have had playoff opportunities that fizzled. The Fish were supposed to be a work in progress and now surprisingly are standing at the playoff gate.

The Fish are playing better at this point, but in cold weather against a team lacking most components of a successful franchise (as bad as the Jets have been, KC has been playing worse), they squeaked out a win. I am hoping that near miss shows promise for next week's game with a season hanging on the outcome in another cold weather game.

Just to clarify, NBC will pick tonight. The 13 day rule applies for weeks 11-16 but not for week 17.

I doubt it, as the Jets can still win the division by beating Miami and the Pats losing in Buffalo. However, I wouldn't put it past that little rat.
If the little cheating DoughBoy loses to the Phins it will cost him his job. Couldn't happen to a nicer rat fink bastard than DoughBoy.

They can move any game, except games with a team making it's 5 SNF game or 7th Prime time game.

Sirrously. You play to win the game. Even Eric Mangina.

Can you put that in a memo to Wade Phillips and the Detroit Lions? I think they missed it,......

" Mr. Mangini, it's Kinko's on line 1. You resumes are ready."

I was wrong about the Jets. If they win and we win but the Ravens lose they get the Wild Card by better Conf record.
