I recall that she banned him from some thread and he asked Ian to be unbanned and then unloaded on her (a lot of the same complaints others had about her).

Was she banned? I thought she just lost her mod status and decided to leave rather than be one of the regulars. But maybe that's naive on my part.
What made it worse was that many posters joined in which I'm sure made her feel bad.

Unfortunately, Bacon and a few other posters get favoritism on this board...if you cross them, you're out, moderator or not.

I was shocked she was banned. I've seen posters say stuff way worse than her and they are still here.
Considering her tenure and everything she did here, without getting into details, people should understand it went beyond something that simple and required a significant instance for me to remove her.

I’m still disappointed it even happened and that I was left without a choice there, but it is what it is.

That’s not at all the case.

...sounds more like a private club than a public bar.
No, not at all. And if you feel that way you may have missed the point he was making. Going to a different table isn’t the same as being removed, and people can still have the conversation. It’s simply keeping everyone else from having to hear/see it if it begins to derail a thread.

That wasn’t possible given what transpired.
Wow. I didn't realize that. Well, I guess we finally have an answer for what it takes to get banned from Patsfans!
Again, the severity of what occurred is what caused her removal. Pretty sure you guys have to know if I made that call, it required a seriously good reason for me to do something that extreme.

Ian, I think I have toned it down a bit. :)

BGC *should* get special treatment because he does actual work producing novel and interesting content. I have my differences with the guy but nobody here does anything like the work he does producing pre-draft content. He's a treasure.

Yeah. I have a guess on what might have happened and it was not related to any public interaction(s) on the forum….

Still miss her enthusiasm :( She’s a true blue Pats fan.

I know she wasn’t in the right about banning people so quickly, but I also can’t imagine it was easy being a mod around here. I do miss what she added to the conversation.
I think the GDT had to be moderated more leniently. That’s what a GDT is. Emotions are spur of the moment. Like a fan yelling at a tv lol

Agreed. If you can’t lose it in the GDT where can you lose it?

I don't know off hand what exactly happened with her. I do know she and Bacon got into a fight that ultimately led Ian to ban her.
I said she was "terrible" after a post of hers but it was quite apparent it wasn't serious. Her post was a "pom-pom" post, there wasn't anything personal or we. She called me a pervert, said I was nasty and a few others things. She went on. Proceeded to lock my thread in the main out of spite.

There's plenty of other examples to show how poor she was at her job. Including flipping out every week in a thread designed for knee-jerk reactions.

I'm sorry but she was a bad mod and took stuff personal. Also I never once asked for her to leave or be banned. I don't think we need people like that as mods though.

Also if you can't tell more happened behind the scenes - which I have no idea about. Idk what else to say. Ian made the right call even though it was tough.

Not really and id love to hear how since you opened that door?

I didn't asked for Ashley to be banned but absolutely respect the decision and think it was the right thing. Ian doesn't need rogue mods in a football forum.

I never complained to Ian about anyone except DKF and asked he be removed from my threads bc hes a loser who has been repeating himself for over a decade. I had several other posters complain to me about him as well. He added nothing to we conversation or topic was at hand. He wasn't insightful. It would be one thing if he knew how to debate or was knowledgeable but he just wanted to troll. He wasn't adding only derailing draft threads about McDaniels. I'm glad he left. And he left, no one banned him but several of these last "stay on topic" threads from Ian directly speak the type of poster he was. He'd harp on stuff for years, let nothing go and add nothing to the discussion. He also would repeat things I said in the past about draft prospects like he thought of it before stalking me.

I've had issues with other posters but don't PM Ian or anyone else batching or asking for bans. Or anything even close to approaching that.

This didn't happen. Above pretty much clears it up but this never happened. Besides the "terrible" post I said absolutely nothing to her. And fwiw just want to throw this out there. We never met or knew each other irl. So there was absolutely nothing "personal" between us to evoke a response like that. Iow she took it to another place and made a mountain out of a molehill.

I generally hope she's OK bc she obviously was triggered and upset.

*Regarding OP*
Everyone should pretend to be grateful to Ian and simply stop that Brady/Bill discussion for a few years. It's a worthy topic and I do believe there's some worthwhile stuff there but posters here have been entrenched on specific positions for years against the same posters. No one is trying to be enlightened or learn. They're trying to "win" something that doesn't have a score.
I think if that little topic alone was put to bed for a few years it would take care a good chunk of the problems.

Thanks Ian, I hate seeing that there is new content in a thread and then open it up only to see and it's the same two guys saying the same two things they have said in a million other threads. Nobody wants to sift through five pages of "I'm right, you're wrong" "No I'm right and you're wrong" to find out the actual subject of the thread.

If you MUST stray from the topic, then post a picture of Lily from AT&T ;)

It is the personalities of the people involved. If you ban that subject, they will start the same type of spamming with a new subject. The personalities do not change if a subject matter is removed. It is like DKF, it was his personality, no matter whatever the subject he would be triggered. People don't want to be bothered to ban posters, and then ban threads, and eventually they are banning stuff more than reading healthy content.

It is not like being in a bar together, a lot of the posters here would not feel comfortable chatting in a relaxed public setting. In a public setting the spammers would respect the other posters and not act like they do here.

Famous Tom Brady quote applies here...

"What I say vs. what I think are two totally different things. I would say 90 percent of what I say is probably not what I'm thinking, which is challenging. I really admire people that actually can do that and say what they think because they invite a lot of other things into their life. I think there's part of me that doesn't like conflict. So in the end, I just always try to play it super flat."
So do we apply that logic to every instance where someone says something we don’t like?
Pretty convenient. You’ve argued thinks based upon what Brady has said many times. So if you like what he says it’s a gotcha and if you don’t like what he says it’s a gotcha because he doesn’t say what he means.

What exactly is your end game here? At what point do you stop being a broken record?

Since the topic has come up and some folks seem to have a skewed recollection of that period in time, and @Ian has already covered most of the rest of this stuff, I just wanted to state again for the record for folks reading here that @BaconGrundleCandy was incredibly patient during this situation. His reputation was being dragged for literally no reason and he simply hung tight and let the process play out. If folks try to claim he did or said anything cross in that process, or favoritism is somehow involved, they are talking out their ass.
