Zappe waived (Edit: so was Malik!)

To where? I'm realistically asking not being sarcastic.. I'm asking the question of who would likely pick him up?
There are several teams where Zappe would be at least good enough to be the emergency QB3 and potentially even QB2. Tampa comes to mind. Atlanta. He’s better than anyone Arizona has healthy (but they certainly don’t want to improve at that position). Even a good team with an established starter like Philly would still improve their depth with Zappe over Mariota. The list goes on….

Maybe the speculation that MP dumbed down the offense for him was true.
Perhaps. Very interesting take. Would seem absolutely bananas if true but then again, everything involving that experiment was ****ing bananas. BB has got to be doing some out of the box roster tinkering. Between all of the movement on the OL, QB room and now cutting Taylor AND Harris, he either thinks this offense is absolute **** or he’s up to something. Then again, if he’s really risking losing some of these guys to another club, how confident is he in them really?

It seems pretty clear he was not picking up the offense and he has physical limitations that he just cannot overcome. I guess they don't believe he can pick up the offense.

It wouldn't surprise me if BOB just concluded Zappe doesn't have what it takes to succeed in his system. The only problem is the practical matter of having someone with enough system knowledge to back up Mac in week one. So you'd have to think either McSorley is back or Zappe is back provided he clears waivers.

Say what you like about Marcus, but over 15,000 passing yards, 94 TDs and another 17 on the ground says he's earned some respect. To be fair, Zappe has done literally nothing compared to Mariota.

I think this has to do with the WRs than the QB. Zappe will be back on the 53 when Boney legs goes on IR.
Maybe also giving the Online time to practice with the real starters and assess the two pickups?

They gotta get back to getting big qb’s.

But zappe had 187 yards and a TD against the lions

Not when it took him 8 years to amass those 15,000 yards. Nothing says “respect” there.
To be fair, Zappe has done literally nothing compared to Mariota.
You must not have watched much football last year. If this was 2016 you might have a point. Here in 2023, Mariota isn’t doing anything that Zappe couldn’t do.

I'll (need to) take your word for it.

Too short. Too bad.

Decent analysis.

I think this is their way of letting the entire world, including Zappe, that they just aren't as into him as much as people assumed.

It's on Zappe to take this in and work on his game.

I think he was waved precisely to appease Mac.
That was sort of my thought too. Not from the perspective of "appeasing" Mac as if he complained about it, but maybe they sensed it impacted his play last year with Zappe breathing down his neck and calls for him to start if he faltered for a drive or two. I know that would be kinda weak-minded and not a mentality you'd want from a QB, but who knows. And of course, that's not to discount the coaching on offense last year which played a big role in him sucking too.

Relax, if no one else wants them they will be signed to PS
I’m relaxed about them. In fact I’d like to see Malik on PS but would be perfectly fine to see Zappe and even Cunningham elsewhere. Right now I’d like to see them sign McCoy as QB2 and Will Grier on the PS. Might even prefer other way around, with Grier as QB2. Think we do need a QB2 along with a third QB but PS would suffice for QB3.
