OK, let me explain.
There is no way that Rodney Harrison and Tedy Bruschi are not going to give 100% effort, only if someone on the other team offended them. Think about that. They don't really care about winning, but when someone makes a comment, now they do????????
Here is what happens. Players and teams absolutely get motivated. Coaches put players in the right mindset.
They use what is available, and there are many more things available than bulletin board comments.
BB reading the Eagles parade route is just a way to focus the team. He did that the night before the game, and he has also brought a SB trophy to the night before meeting as a different means of getting players focused.
I'm sure Harrison and Bruschi were fired up by using those comments because they were used when it was time to fire the team up, and they would have been equally fired up if the message was something totally different.
I am sure they remember it as the comments got them fired up, but in reality they were getting just as fired up whether the comments were there or not.
Unless you want to believe they would have coasted without motivation because they have none unless someone criticizes them.
