It's over.
Let's say Weis addresses this and says it was a very minor part of the game planning. Or he says videotaping provided no advantage that couldn't be gained by writing down what D-coordinator signaled. Or maybe he says it's SOP around the NFL and the whole thing's been overblown.
Will this writer and his ilk believe and accept any of those explanations? I doubt it. They won't be satisfied until they get a tearful confession that the Patriot's success is entirely based on deception. It's become a grail for some people. It doesn't exist, but they won't stop looking.
This article falls into the "How can I write about Spygate?" folder.
Walters says ND deserves to hear from Weis about Spygate because ND fired George O'Leary for lying on his resume. ND is all about honor, etc and Weis was hired under false circumstances.
Dan Patrick has been referencing the article and continuing his Spygate drumbeat. Dan Patrick's whine - "Why won't he <Weis> talk about it?"
Of course, the ND administration is interested in a winning season and winning a bowl. Spygate, I suggest, is not on their agenda. But that won't placate people like Patrick or Walters.
