I know that certain people always thought Ferentz was kept because of nepotism. But going back 2 years, it's know that he helped push Dante's Ways on the O-line. He was a decent, but not great spot starter. He never rose to the level of Tom Ashworth

Good Luck to him going forward.

He never panned out like you hoped. But he was good enough to stick around in the NFL for awhile.

Sometimes players just don’t have the gifts or health to make great careers, but are able to pass off or teach helpful knowledge and concepts better than all pro players.

That seems to be common in sports, especially baseball. The backups sitting on the bench watching the game tend to do quite well.
