FOX’s Jay Glazer reported on Sunday that the Eagles had moved Sean Desai out of the defensive play-calling position and replaced him with Patricia. Desai will remain with the team in a different capacity, while Patricia is back to calling a defense.

Super Bowl

I guess they saw how good he was last in hindsight and said just imagine how much better he would be on defense!

Why not offensive plays?

Patricia calling the Pats offense would be bette than OBrien. But you believe the hype from the sprots writers? Obviously you do not watch the Patriots play or you would never post that response. This Patriots offense is competing for one of the worse of all time.

Where do the 2023 New England Patriots rank among worst scoring offenses in NFL history?

Through 12 games of the 2023 season, New England is at the very bottom of the league – 32nd out of 32 – in scoring offense. The team has scored an average of just 12.3 points per game, a number brought down by three straight weeks of failing to score more than seven points in a game.

In NFL history!!! And you are still on the Patricia sucks bandwagon as he is promoted to defensive coordinator for the Eagles? You probably kiss Curran, Bedard, and Breer dolls every night before you go to bed.

Patricia sucks as an OC. If he really was as good as you say then teams wouldn't be hiring him as a DC.

Just because this year is worse doesn't mean everything we know about last year was false

All can be true, Patricia sucks as an OC, our offense sucks and Obie isn't that great either. With no QB none of those guys would look good.

Eagles making the moves before the playoffs. Watch Patricia's defense shut down the Niners come January

Yes it does. You can't stand being wrong so you keep pretending that you were right. That is why you had to post about Patricia being a bad OC when it has already been proven he was not that bad - you can not stand being wrong. Same as Andy.

Patricia might not be a great OC, but he is not that bad. Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe are that bad. Without a QB every coach in football sucks.

So you would be happy with Patricia to come back next year as our OC? It was a good decision for Bill to hire a DC/special teams coach and ask them to do a job they've never done before?

Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers are liars When they insulted the offense? Every year is it's own entity, it's a different team.

We played an easier schedule last year and Mac is worse. We knew this years schedule would be tougher even if we looked better before the season

But I don't think all the articles about how Patricia ran a simplistic offense didn't know how to change plays or receiver concepts were a lie.

I just think they put too much faith in how much O'brien would improve the offense. Instead of improving the skill positions. Bill ignored them again. Went defense all top picks. Meanwhile our offense is surrounded by JAGs.

This board has the most simplistic black and white opinions.

"Mac = bad so roster = good!"

Now it's

"2024 < 2023 = Matt Patricia good OC!"

Not sure why posters are commenting on Fat Matt as a offensive playcaller when he'll be doing that as the defacto DC.

First Patriots offensive snap yesterday: Run up the middle (-1 yd)
Honestly, I have never seen more defenders stuffed into the box with 100% expectations that our OC would call a basic run play right up the middle right out of the gate.
Who in the stadium didn't know what kind of O'Brien wizardry was about to transpire.
Frankly, the NE offense showed more creativity during the Cam Newton "Qb Sneak" era

But Obie ticked the most important box: Friend of Bill.
In fact I think I was told that there is a FoB checkmark box on the application form that's filled out by all aspiring coaches.
Another application question: "If you did not check the "FoB" box, are you in anyway related to a "FoB"?
Then of course the obligatory "Did you play college lacrosse?"
