I like Peter King 99% of the time but he has to stop the Brett Farve love fest. Earlier this year he said Brett was comeback player of the year (NFL Midseason All-Pro Team, Awards - Peter King - SI.com) even though Farve played all 16 games and was voted to the Pro Bowl. Not really sure what Brett was coming back "from" but WTF do I know.
This week he writes Tony Romo carries Cowboys; Panthers stun Vikings; more - Peter King - SI.com
The Vikings loss to the Panthers last night was a "debacle" but it was "Not Brett Favre's fault."
Ok. Now I did't see the game so I'll take King at his word. According to King:
Panthers DE "Julius Peppers was Deacon Jones and Lawrence Taylor rolled into one dominant force for four quarters."
Also "Peppers' dominance got [OT] Bryant McKinnie yanked from the game. (When's the last time you saw a top-10 left tackle get pulled for performance, not being hurt? Ever? I don't recall it.) It forced Brad Childress to put pedestrian Artis Hicks at left tackle, and to keep a back in to chip on Peppers when the game got desperate and the Vikings fell behind in the second half."
So let's say all this is true. How can a QB be good if the pass rusher is Deacon Jones and Lawrence Taylor rolled into one. NOT POSSIBLE. My confusion comes into play when he lists his defesive player of the week. Peppers right? WRONG, it was DeMarcus Ware. The Saints game did I see and Ware was beast but if Peppers played like TWO NFL legends and got a top OT pulled shouldn't he have been, I don't know the D player of the week? I'm just saying. It gets better. The Goat of the Week was Saints OT Jermon Bushrod
"There haven't been many games played by left tackles in 2009 worse than the one Bushrod threw out on the floor of the Superdome."
Huh? I thought McKinnie who got pulled becasue he was getting Farve killed was worse. Anyone help me on this? Bueller? Bueller? Frye? Frye?
Farve was and still is a legend but I think it is ok to say it like it. He has been average to bad the last couple of weeks. Peter, say it with me..."Brett Farve is not a GOD"
