All the kidding aside, about signing Gronk2....There is something very endearing about "Our Cold,Bloodless,Mr Belichick"

The way he tries to help former players, like Corwin Brown....His loyalty towards Rodney and Junior....His signing of the two Navy guys after completing reserve duty, sticking with Tedy after his stroke.Putting two loving brothers on the same team and nurturing Jackie Slater's son.

Putting his personal life stuff,aside....The guy just seems to have a real sense for what a "football family" is all about.

These may seem to be small things;and there may be many more....I just wanted to convey that I am damn proud of "Our Mr. Belichick".:eat2:

As i said no the "BB miced up" thread, i love this man, i absolutley admire him, he knows how he's football team should look like - a family.

Well said. There's a lot of fans complaining these days who really haven't a clue about what a bad franchise REALLY looks like. :rocker:

BB is great and a group mentality is definitely on his mind, but bringing up specific players on the roster isn't a question. I have no doubt he will handle things classy and be there for players/former players he has a relationship with.

But BB is still team first, so saying he kept players around for the "family" I call shenanigans. If Bill decides a player isn't direction he wants to go with the team, that player will be off the team pretty soon regardless of the "family".

I guess I might have "Stockholm" syndrome.....must be pretty "cold" breezes that blow thru your pretty little socialist kingdom:bricks:

Bill is Mr. Business, not the family guy. First and foremost in his mind is the team and what is best for the team.

Well, autumn is coming is it not?
And actually it's the opposite side of politics currently governing here.

Bingo. I have to call BS on the OP's point.

Someone should point out to all those gushing over BB's "football family" jive that James Sanders was cut last week. Nobody worked harder than Sanders or ran through as many walls as that kid. If BB was so sentimental, he would have kept him.

Vrabel was traded without being consulted.

Wille Mac was allowed to walk without even a serious contract offer.

Mankins took a massive dump on the team last year and was AWOL the first 6 games - - he gets a Brinks truck delivered to him.

Sure, he stuck with Harrison, brought on Seau, etc. because they could help the team - - not because he liked them. Someone mentioned how he "stuck with Bruschi" after the stroke - - well, guess what? Bruschi fit the team well even then and was a bargain since he negotiated his own contracts. The minute he wasn't the best piece to fit in the puzzle he "retired" (and everyone knows he was pushed).

If anyone thinks that Gronk2 won't be thrown overboard if Crumpler looks OK to BB after game one this year, they're in dreamland. If Crumpler looks to be in football shape (a big "if") all the butterfly tears in the world won't save Gronk2.

I also think we drink the most coffee per capita too.

See, I can state irrelevant facts too. :D
I have to ask, was that "Skoal" an attempt at skål? Otherwise I just don't know what you mean.

There's a balancing act between doing what's best for the current team vs. individual family members, but even in that, I find BB to be more than fair.

With regards to Sanders, BB cut him extremely early in the process to give him extra time to catch on somewhere else. Had he waited until cut day, Sanders may have had a harder time finding a job elsewhere. He should have kept him for a while longer and let him help teach the younger kids, but he was fair to Sanders.

With Troy and Tedy, it was clear they weren't going to make the team their final years but there were talks before that point and both were allowed to walk away on their terms rather than be cut.

With Randy, we basically were ready to trade him for a bag of footballs to get rid of him, but look at how much love and respect he still has for the franchise.

Seymour had several run-ins with BB over the years, and eventually got shipped to football Siberia. Yet Gerard Warren has said that listening to Seymour speak about NE made it a very appealing place to come.

And these things are from people we were getting RID of.

Football is a cold, harsh business, and there's no denying BB has to deal with ugly things as part of his role. But he understands and respects the game, the history of it, and most importantly, the people in it.

If BB was so UNSENTIMENTAL as you think; he would have held onto Sanders until cutdown day and let him hang in the wind.

He cut Sanders EARLY; even before he was fully sure on Merriweather (my assumption); BECAUSE HE FELT HE OWED IT TO THE VET (this part is FACT). That is specifically what both HE and SANDERS both said to the press.

Would it have been better for Sanders to be hung out to dry at the last minute when almost everyone's 53 man rosters are locked and he has no practice time with a new team to crack a starting lineup or possibly even the 53 roster???

would it have been better for the PATRIOTS to keep the Sanders insurance policy to the last minute, cut meriweather and then hold onto sanders for a little while (JUST IN CASE SOMEONE GOT HURT)?

I think the answer to the first is NO and the answer to the second is Yes. BB obviously made a FAMILY DECISION where he could (IN THE TIMING OF THE CUT).

He had to make a football decision on if the guy is going to stay on the team; but he could have been a jerk (See JACK DEL RIO reference HERE Jacksonville Jaguars release David Garrard days before opener - ESPN)

....AND FACT IS .... HE WASN'T A JERK!!! He took care of his own as best he could.

I've read quite a few Swedish mysteries in the last couple of years and the biggest mystery to me is how anyone in Sweden can sleep what with all that coffee.

It's an art-form. ;)

You also have "Djungelvrål" and other excellent licorices/salmiaklakrits. I like the Salmiakki-flavoured vodka, myself. I make it up at home. :)

Yeah, it's nice. I used to make that too. Buy a packet of liquorice hard candy and mix it with vodka. Used the dishwasher and shaking to make the lumps disappear. Came out way better than premade flavored stuff. :p

Lawyer Milloy says hello.

Please, folks, you're only deluding yourselves with this Belichick-Mother Teresa fantasy. He's the best football coach on the planet and there's no one else I'd want coaching my team.

He makes decisions that are best for the TEAM. He does not play favorites - - otherwise Logan (AWOL) Mankins would not have been delivered the Brinks truck.

The greatness of Belichick IS his cold bloodedness. Someone like that Major Dad coach who got fired in Minnesota last year would have jettisoned Mankins........and kept Bledsoe in the second half of the 2001 season.

Gronk2 was brought in ONLY for his football value - - not because of the joy of seeing "two loving brothers on the same team" (thanks Italia, that one still has me rolling! :D ). If he doesn't produce, trust me, BB will be a home wrecker.

Geez, the part about "nurturing Jackie Slater's son" was even MORE classic! Is that why BB has man-boobs?
