The Refs better have an eye on Sherman all game next week after the hit on the kicker and this at the end of the game

Oh, they will. The NFL is nothing if not bad media sensitive. They'll probably over react.

So if the QB is outside the pocket you can do whatever you want to a receiver? How was I not aware of this? Why are the Pats not exploiting that rule?

It's illegal contact. How can you not see that?
It's not since Taylor at that point was already out of the pocket. The rules for illegal contact beyond five yards are:

ARTICLE 3. ILLEGAL CONTACT BEYOND FIVE-YARD ZONE

Beyond the five-yard zone, if the player who receives the snap remains in the pocket with the ball, a defender cannot initiate contact with a receiver who is attempting to evade him. A defender may use his hands or arms only to defend or protect himself against impending contact caused by a receiver.

And as can be seen here Taylor is clearly outside the pocket. The only question is whether it's unnecessary roughness, but I don't think so. Actually it seems like Sherman's knocking his assignment to the ground on a frequent basis when the QB goes out of the pocket.

In today’s NFL, quarterbacks routinely look to leave the pocket. This typically stresses the defense because it forces the secondary to cover for longer, but it is often forgotten that once a quarterback leaves the pocket defensive backs can become as physical as they like with the receivers they are covering. As soon as the opposing quarterback leaves the pocket against the Seahawks, Sherman is always looking to knock his assignment to the ground.

This may seem like a cheap move to the uninformed, but it is the smartest way to stop receivers from making big plays against you. The quickness of thought to recognize the scenario and his understanding of the rules is something that not every player possesses, even at this level.
Richard Sherman: The Numbers, The Tape, The Verdict

Thanks, NFL. I was thinking I might stay up to watch all of this, but ... why?

I tuned in and saw this clown car sequence before the half. When they failed to call the OBVIOUS roughing penalty and compounded their INCOMPETENCE by failing to get out of the way for the snap with ~ 5 seconds to go on the play clock doubly hurting the Williams, I shut it off.

Screw the increasingly unwatchable NYJFL

Oh yeah, one last thing regarding that, of course it's helpful if the coverage like in that last play is a zone scheme. If it's man-to-man (and the corners aren't playing off-coverage) it's hard for the corners to realise immediately when a QB goes out of the pocket.

Rex Ryan not calming his team down at the end of the first half cost them big time.

Something to keep in mind for any of us enjoying watching the Bills get screwed over by the refs.

That is really no different than fans of other teams recognizing that the Pats were screwed over by Defamegate, but still celebrating the penalties the Pats suffered.

No one should be celebrating when another team suffers through the NFL*'s corruption and incompetence.

If the NFL* can't provide a fair playing field then why watch?

Sunday's Chiefs-Jaguars contest was likewise nigh unwatchable for the same reasons . TE Travis Kelce mugged en route to end zone, no flags. Leading to his tirade and subsequent ejection.

At this point it's just funny watching the NFL turn into a joke. Watching the likes of Denver, Seattle, and Baltimore effectively get away with blatant infractions consistently because it's "their identity" is pretty comparable to the refs in WWE...

Because the NFL is obviously a Mom/Pop operation that can't afford full time refs.

...just another year
...another new way to lose
...another comedic night of buffalo football on tv

the real problem with that game was the same problem as bills-jets and pats (varsity) - bills at the um, cornerback position. you can either cover one on one or you can't. the ryan defense doesn't understand how to function without top 5 cornerbacks... on the other hand... Schwartz was able to hide his bum corners with a different scheme.

buffalo was designed around old school low scoring football games where the qb needed under 200yds, no pics and ball control.... doesn't work when your defense sucks so they should fire the offensive coordinator again.

That is all well and good, but I am surprised you aren't here discussing the officiating from last night.

No team should have their chances at victory so egregiously impacted by such incompetence as the NFL* displayed last night.

Precisely my thinking as I switched the TV OFF immediately after that ref fiasco.

Buffalos #2 corner was just benched vs Seattle, and Gilmore's play been up and down all year, with mostly downs.

The Patriots have benched, or demoted, their CB2s multiple times this season, and Butler has been up and down this year. How's it any different, other than Darby being better than the Patriots CB2s and the Patriots having better safety play?

Full time officials is a needless thing. Anyone who takes even a second to think about it should be able to figure that one out.

it doesn't negate
the premise the team was constructed on, which is a failure
the horrible discipline of the team, which is repetitive
the incompetency in the general managers office, which is 17yrs long in the tooth, and repetitive
the arrogance of the owner to state they've only missed the playoffs 1 time

the bills will not get any reversal of favors from the NFL until it appeases the owners by building a new stadium, increasing the prices, and removing the organization from the bottom of the financial asset column.

Terry Pegula is paying dues and has a lot of dues to pay apparently.

Turns out McCoy was out of bounds when the announcer said he was out of bounds. Another missed call by the ref?
