Take it FWIW, Fitzy says his source told him that if Abdul Carter is available at 4 that the Eagles will call the Patriots and offer AJ Brown and pick(s) to trade up for Carter. He said the Eagles would really want Carter.

I say this is unlikely since the Eagles are selecting 32. It would take more than Brown and the 32nd pick to get to #4. I would definitely consider it if they are offering that and more. The Pats could then trade up and get Simmons.

why because he’s from their home state?

That would be an absolutely massive trade down. Brown is elite, but Philly needs to toss in their 2nd at a minimum.

On the flip side, Brown + Diggs would be lethal, and pick 32 is still a good spot to get a decent starting LT.

If the Pats got Brown, the 32nd pick, and the Eagles' second rounder, they could easily trade up for Josh Simmons assuming he doesn't get drafted higher than when he is expected to go. Some think Simmons may end up being the best LT of this draft.

I’d definitely do it if they sweetened the pot with an extra pick early round pick. Acquire a prime superstar WR and potentially grab a starting LT for the future. Suddenly we are in business. Carter is an absolute stud but I’d pass on him to fill our two biggest positions of need.

I like Fitzy but I think he gets his rumors from the grilled cheese sandwich. Not happening, for a number of reasons:

- rumors this specific never come to fruition
- the cap hit the Eagles would get by trading away Brown isn’t worth it assuming they even want to trade him (which I doubt)
- Carter is almost certainly not going to make it past the Giants

Having Brown here is a fun idea but strictly fantasy. Diggs is our WR1 heading into 2025 and everything below him on the depth chart is up for grabs. The sooner we accept that reality the better.

Has “ Fitzy” ever been right about anything, or is he another “ Dakota from Braintree?”

As so many of these rumors do (remember Julius Peppers SZN?), this one falls apart when you look at the cap.

Trading AJ Brown before June 1 would entail an extra $42M cap hit for the Iggles.

Is that the same if he signs a new deal during any trade?

Thank you
It's grilled cheese sandwiches all around to go along with the fun n games... until an adult enters the room

Why would pats pass on chance to draft Carter?
That would be insane

If they could have say AJ Brown, the 32nd pick, and a second rounder instead of Carter, you probably take it. The Pats need players. They could trade a potential stud pass rusher for a stud WR and possibly two solid starters. That is worth it for steam with so many needs.

Again, we have no idea if Carter will fall to four (odds are better he won’t). And we have no idea if Fitzy is talking out his butt or not.
