He goes to Missouri... not Florida.
He may go to Missouri but he plays for the Univ. of Florida Gators

He is a projected top 20 pick though so there's no way I see the Pats spend that high a pick for a #3 WR.
I'd rather have a pass rushing OLB like say Everette Brown.

I have been thinking about WR possibly being great value, not necessarly a need but Mackin, Crabtree, Harvin, etc. would make pretty good 3rd WRs.
agreed thats what i was thinking. If we are picking late teens or early 20's and Maclin is on the board and the stud corners/tackles/linebackers are already gone it would be very tempting to pick him as best value on the board.

We need a 2nd guy who can make a big play down the field pretty badly.
When discussing WR prospects for the Pats, you are prohibited from using those words...

I'm not sold on Maclin. College WRs, RBs, QBs, etc are crowned by ESPN every year to be these amazing athletes. And the majority of them do jack in the pros. Maclin just seems like he's a bit overhyped because he plays in a high octane offense. There's plenty of talented and physically gifted receivers that aren't playing on great teams. I'd rather see the Patriots try to develop someone then blowing a first on a WR. I mean look at #1, #2 WRs from the past few years. None of them are putting up spectacular numbers.
You need to do a re-check before you say NONE of them are putting up spectacular numbers. Calvin Johnson is doing a helluva job considering he has no QB throwing to him. Santonio Holmes says hi.
WRs and RBs are a crap shoot. Everyone knows that. Everyone thought that the Patriots stole Chad Jackson when they originally drafted him. And he busted because of injuries and his inability to earn the trust of the QB plus his slowness in learning the play-book.
Both of them are the number 1 or 2 receivers on those teams. We are talking about spending a number one draft pick on a guy that will be number 3 for awhile.
So, now you backpedal from your statement in a futile attempt to justify your gross exaggerations. Listen, I don't think Maclin fits into the Pats system. Nor do I feel that the Patriots are going to spend another 1st round pick on a skill position when they regularly draft players a year in advance of when they need them for the lines.
And no, "WE" were not talking about spending a 1st round pick on Maclin. BRIZ was doing that. And you were just throwing out gross exaggerations.
