BB screwed up his first gig mainly by not taking the trouble to get along with people. I don't think that will be a problem for Vrabel.
That and San Fran is a mess. The Texans have the better defense and front office. Vrabel made a wise decision.Yep. He was offered the DC role with San Fran and chose to stay with the Texans. The team that gave him a job in the NFL.. A team that he knows very well and is on track for advancement with..
When you consider how many truly good coaches there are, then look at the small number of players that are universally considered "good", it is not surprising that there are few good players that become good coaches. Why do so many Boston sports fans think ex players would be awesome coaches....cam Neely, vrabel, varitek, Mayo, Wakefield, bird,.....in general most good players underwhelm as coaches
Bird was a pretty good coach with the Pacers. 147-67, 0.687 winning percentage. the year before Bird became coach, the Pacers were 39-43, and the year after he left, they were 41-41. in three seasons, the pacers made it to the eastern conference finals twice and the NBA Finals in his last season. Why do so many Boston sports fans think ex players would be awesome coaches....cam Neely, vrabel, varitek, Mayo, Wakefield, bird,.....in general most good players underwhelm as coaches

- Vrabel has been coaching for 3 or 4 years now and is very highly regarded.
As an aside, at OSU, he was also considered one of the top recruiters in the country, too.
Vrabel was also considered extremely knowledgeable when he was with the Pats.. He played DE, OLB and ILB for them. He also knew what everyone else's jobs were supposed to be and was considered a coach on the field.
