Draft Discussion: Let's RESTACK for Day 2 - Best of the Rest

I'm intrigued by DTR from UCLA with the cannon arm in the 6th. At worst can be a scout QB on the PS with all of the running QBs that seem to give the Pats fits.
DTR is definitely a really interesting project for someone. I'd absolutely take a flier with one of their four 6ths. There are a couple intriguing QBs that can be had late. Jaren Hall is another. I also like Jake Haener but more as a high-floor guy.

The "learning" piece is underrated - it's been said many times that TE is one of the hardest roles on the Pats to learn because you need to understand what the line is doing and also need to learn the routes too.
That's why I want them to draft Sam LaPorta towards end of round 2 and trade up to draft dawaand jones. Cost of it, 2 fourth rounders.

I know very little about the draft or any of the prospects, but I stumbled on Mingo. He could be a real sleeper pick. He looks like a young Anquan Boldin. He would be a perfect fit for the Patriots' offense. I guess the knock on him is he hasn't done anything until last year and still is raw.
Poor man's A.J. Brown.

That'd be a pretty good haul I think. There's a lot of good players on the board and they have many picks - 11 picks remaining. They're not going to use 11 more picks, there's not 11 more spots open on the roster. Reasons to be optimistic.

IIRC, I believe BGC likes Mingo a lot and thinks NE will take him.

Branch is a really good player but honestly not that big of a need as they already have Dugger.

Nice catch Josh Downs is very similar to Zay Flowers I was not for Drafting JSN or Flowers in the First Round. I think Jordan Addison's game is better than both right now the Vikings got a good one to pair with Justin Jefferson.

I wonder how BOB feels about Jalin Hyatt knowing he had a Monster day against his former Team. I am sure BOB could scheme a guy like Hyatt open on the next level like he did Will Fulller V.

That's a tiny draft room. Looks like it's just Bill, Kraft, Groh, Wolf, Camren Williams, Berj Najarian. Maybe 1 other guy? It's like 6 or 7 people. Some of these draft rooms have 30+ people. I know NE usually keeps it small but it's still interesting to see.
I'd guess it's likely they have at least 20 other guys connected, just not in the room.

I don't know about you guys but I woke up feeling pretty good this morning. Got a guy I thought would go in the top 10 at 17 and the Celtics finished off the Hawks.

Bergeron, Breeland, Washington, La Porta, Mayer, D Jones, Tippman, Wylper, Schmitz. Duncan are tops for me.

Wrs day 2, 3 and 4. Hyatt, Mingo, Downs, Wheaton, Scott.

Don’t forget to add the person who was walking Nike…

On Dawand Jones, I would love to pick him, but do not be surprised if he drops into Day 3. There are so many examples of guys his size that are taken way later because they simply can't move well. Trent Brown was a 6th rounder, there are lots of players like that.

Keion White is a 6'5" 285 pound pass rushing edge setter who is a huge need for us because we have no one like that other than D Wise. White has the same ability and is even bigger and faster than Tyree Wilson. But White is a dog who doesn't play hard. I am so torn on this guy: measurables say top 10 player, can our DL coaches unlock the monster? He could be a Richard Seymour (Seymour was called a dog in college).

If we're really interested in a 3-down LB who excels at all facets, the player is not Trent Simpson, but D Henley.

I hope we don't take Hyatt, he is extremely limited as to what he can do, he has trouble getting off the line, he can't play against zone, and in fact, he seems to be a carbon copy of Tyquan. Why would we need 2 Tyquans?

I would be happy with:
Dawand Jones although he might end up as strictly a RT in the NFL.
Darnell Washington physical freak at TE who can block and can develop in the passing game.
Josh Downs little guy but would gives us some much needed quickness in the middle of the field.
Tyler Steen from Alabama may be a reach in the second but Billy O may cause us to grab him slightly early.

a 6th or 7th isn't really a wasted pick, those are all pretty much wasted haha (current history aside)

i'm interested to see where they see value to make moves.......they are not making 12 picks in this draft
Yeah 5th is where one starts throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks, imho.

I’m on the Jonathan Mingo train. I get real AJ Brown vibes from his game.
