The front six wasn't very good.
They WERE playing without White, Bentley, Mapu and Flowers.
What the excuse for the defensive tackles?

This is the biggest positive of the pre-season, in addition to Brown playing.
Lawrence Guy should just retire already. What the excuse for the defensive tackles?
Never changed my opinion on him after that. It was completely inexcusable.

This is dumb. They wouldn’t and shouldn’t leave their starters in beyond the first quarter or half of a preseason game. These games don’t count, beyond player development they’re meaningless. They only exist to prepare players for the regular season. And yeah, you’re entitled to a Super Bowl trophy every season, you’re not entitled at all.if ifs and buts were candy and nuts Bill the Coach would have won a playoff game the last 4 seasons
If by long ago you mean two days before the game.
Mac wasn't great by any means but I'll still take his game anyday over Zappe's game completing less than 50% of his passes against second stringers, a hospital ball to Nixon and could have easily had at least 2 INTs by my count.I do not see QB1 locked in at all.
Henry was wide open and there was a clean pocket. And, Jones never looked to his left on the strip sack. To me that is troubling and brings back memories of Mark Sanchez who was also oblivious to his surroundings. I do not get the impression that QB1 is in control, just like Sanchez.
Parker
Bourne
JuJu
Boutee
Douglas
Those are my 5. I expected Boutee to be frail, but the dude looks physical.
Imagine a Zappe offense facing that Eagles front in week 1? Yikes. Forget winning the game could we even keep it within 40?Short of an injury there is no effing way Mac isn't the starter week one. And if you think otherwise that says more about you than it does about him.
All I read and heard was that that Jones shined in camp.Mac wasn't great by any means but I'll still take his game anyday over Zappe's game completing less than 50% of his passes against second stringers, a hospital ball to Nixon and could have easily had at least 2 INTs by my count.
Zappe is just not an NFL caliber starting QB. Barring an injury to QB1 he should never start another game for the Patriots or any other NFL team.
Jones will not be getting a 5th year if he isn't the guy. If he isn't then the Patriots are probably high enough in the draft next season to pick a top QB prospect. I hope he is the guy because the QB merry go round isn't a great place to be.All I read and heard was that that Jones shined in camp.
He sure didnt shine in GB. 2 more sacks, 1 fumble and a near INT. The GB player had both hands on the ball.

I think you are confused on which BROWN that POP looks like. It's TROY BROWN. And Belichick isn't making the same mistake with POP that Parcells did with Troy.maybe Strong gets Foxboro flu and they keep JJ on final 53.
Douglas when he was in there looked fantastic. He was getting great separation. Has potential to be the next Antonio Brown
You can't put a WR on the IR designated for Return PRIOR to the Start of the season. The WR must be on the 53 Man roster after the final cutdown before that can happen. It looks like the Patriots got two steals on WR’s at the end of the draft. I’m hoping Boutte plays himself onto the 53……I don’t think he will make it the PS once other teams see he healed up and has his burst back.
I’m expecting a WR to go on IR designated to return in the next couple of weeks with some soft tissue injury.
Bourne never checked out last season. He fought every step of the way to get back on the field despite Patricia's stupidity. Bourne showed up and ran the routes the way he knew he was supposed to despite Patricia's animosity towards him.I believe early in camp/OTAs last year, Bourne clearly saw the offense going sideways, opened his mouth/called out the coaches and subsequently doghoused by Fat Matt and supported by BB. Once that happened he checked out.
I doubt they trade any WR's because it's been such a lacking on this team for the last 4 years. But, I was very disappointed to see JuJu be absolutely invisible in his full quarter of play. I loved seeing Bourne do what most (smart) fans knew he was capable of, but I've been consistent that I'm concerned with JuJu and Parker being 1-trick ponies - they're not fast, not shifty. It's not what Mac needs - jump balls and bombs are fun in practice, but rarely work in games with real DL pressure (and a sieve for an OL). Mac needs DD, and what Boutte may be able to become... and yes - what Meyers was. We'll see when they start scheming for real, but I'm not sold.
Incorrect. They can put people on the IR the day after cut-downs. Players don't have to be Designated for return until they are ready. And up tp 8 players can get that designation during the season. If they have any sense, they'll keep 6 WR's on the final 53. Then, perhaps IR TT. They have to wait until week 1 to short-term IR someone, and they're not going to shelve TT all year. Because someone is going to get injured (JuJu and/or Parker) and we'll need the extra guy.
Sad, because the biggest $$ was put into the 2 oldest, injury-prone, WR's.
