It's semantics. Bill obviously believed Brady was in his waning years and no longer an mvp/elite caliber QB. Not completely unreasonable given his age. He was wrong though.

If Bill wanted to move on from Brady he would have had a plan in place or a decent backup QB. He had neither, which tells me that Bill believed that Brady wasn't leaving and would continue to take less to stay here. That's where I think Bill went wrong.

I wish you wrote this more clearly so that I could respond. I can only speculate on what some of this means. First, I'm floored that Kraft called Steven A. and said that. The man is petty beyond belief. What exactly did he say? Did he give Kraft a study showing that older QBs fall off the cliff? Wouldn't you WANT your GM doing this kind of work? Every other team with an older QB was making the same assessment. They were making plans for succession. The Packers did it 2x. As for Brees, and for the record, his career finished when he was 4 years younger than when Brady's career finished. And this might seem crazy to you, but Brees's contract was the SAME as Brady's contract signed in 2018. 2 years, but only 1 year guaranteed. $25m per. Same contract. Brees could be cut with no repercussions before the 2nd year. That's Brady's contract.

If I show you a study (and that study was done when Brady was 37, by the way) that said older QBs fall off the cliff, I'm doing that to prepare you for the inevitability that we need to move on from Brady. I'm doing it so that you can understand why we need to draft his successor Jimmy Garoppolo in 2014. It's a plan.

I totally understand where you're coming from. However the NFL is a production based business. In the GOATs last season he was 12-4 and 24-8.. witnessing the most complete butchering at the most important position in football last 2 seasons I'd be on cloud 9 to have a QB putting up 24-8.. right now!

Not sure where this Easterby comp is coming from. Easterby had a degree from Liberty U (lol) as a cleric, and was a power hungry, back-stabbing, double xing whack job.

They were both hand picked by the owner because they are loyal with a different perspective. They both are go-betweens with no football training or experience. Very different people like you note, but the role is the same, or very nearly the same. The comparison is apt and interesting to discuss, even if they have different educations. If you believe the role can be defined as a "loyal snitch", it does not matter how educated the snitch is. Got it?
