What position should the Pats take with their next [Day 2, #34] pick?

My vote is for OT or WR. Those needs are so glaring, to me it is too soon to think BPA. You can still get good CB/FS/DT/Edge depth a little later. The Pats defense is not the problem; the offense was/is still awful, until proven otherwise. Give the new QB some help.

    Day 2 wishlist

I hear you and I thought about that... I just don't know if trading away future early picks is the right way to go with a 4-win, multi-year-rebuild team. Not an easy call, even though this year's draft class is deeper than 2025's.

    Day 2 wishlist

I would have liked to see the Pats trade up from #34 into the first, but they didn't have anything to offer. The only way the Patriots could have done that was if they traded down from #3 first. That didn't happen, so they had no ammo to move up.

    Day 2 wishlist

Kingsley Suamataia is still available. It's a close call, but in my opinion I'd prefer to go with him at #34, then WR at #68.

    Day 2 wishlist

As much as I really like some of the receivers that are available, my preference is an OT. There are decent WRs that will still be available at #68. Same cannot be said for an OT at #68. 34: OT 68: WR Day Three: RB, TE, and BPA.

DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2024 Draft Day LIVE Discussion Thread

I thought the early run on QBs would work in the Pats favor. More QBs drafted in the 1st round = more OTs still available later. Similar thoughts when the defensive players were being drafted in the middle of the 1st. Saints, Bengals, Steelers, Packers and Cowboys - each and every one taking...

It sounds like Arizona is certainly doing New England a favor, with Schultz reporting that the Cardinals are driving a hard bargain to move back and are “more than happy” to take Marvin Harrison Jr. with the #4 overall pick. Putting on my amateur armchair GM hat, if I was Schultz I would be...

NEW ARTICLE: Thursday Patriots Notebook 4/25: News and Notes

It sounds like the Vikings may be throwing in the towel when it comes to potentially trading up to acquire a quarterback tonight. According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, Minnesota is now expected to keep both of their first-round selections, which, rather than attempt a move up the...

“Just because you’re good at algebra, does that mean you’re good at calculus?” said McDaniel Now this is something I can relate to. Many decades later, I still have nightmares about being a newbie freshman taking calculus. I don't know how, but I did manage to pass the class. Then a few years...

    My mock using a simulator

Like it a lot, though my preference would be to add a Day Three RB: Shipley, Guerendo, Laube, Davis, Ali, etc. I have no problem at all with adding Milton that late. Brissett will probably only be here for a year, so Milton can become the backup or spot starter due to injury. By year four he...

Very interesting, but what if McCarthy is gone by #9? Presumably Penix is Plan B - but when do you draft him, in that case? One interesting notion from Ben Volin was initially somewhat dismissable, but comments from Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles are enough to make you wonder if it might be a...
