Curran: Belichick deliberately lays an egg at NFL breakfast

Did Bill pose for the coaches' picture?

If he didn't, then that's the only part of his performing the bare minimum at these meetings that I wish
he would change.

He participated in the coach's picture last year, not sure about this year though

Why ?

Who gives a **** about any of those artificial events just to keep the media cycle alive in the offseason ?

What is really important is the Johns Hopkins Lacrosse Sweatshirt is made by Champion, in direct defiance of the NFL's mandate for Coaches to wear Nike branded gear..

Time for more penalties.. what kind of socks was BB wearing???

In Bill We Trust. We fully appreciate that a league-mandated press conference never won a football game.

Every minute Belichick spends answering media questions is another minute he doesn't have to sign another previous #1 draft pick to field as many elite players as possible to combat the NFL's abuse of the Patriots.

If anybody who communicates with Belichick is reading these posts, please let the coach know we love this.

I've been waffling on BB vs Media for 16 years now. At first I was disappointed that he didn't talk more. Then I supported his stance when the Pats started winning, thinking that if it helps the team win it's great. I also enjoyed the way he ***** slapped some in the media. Then I started to ask myself why he didn't offer up more for the fans. Surely a man of his intelligence can figure out a way to give us something while still showing his disdain for the NYJFL and media. Then I see a presser like this last one and all I can do is laugh.

All us Patriot fans want from BB is to keep his team on top of the NFL........

We can use our football brains to figure out what he is doing most of the time, plus there are plenty of posters here with a decent football background to help us solve some of his head scratcher moves. ( Well, most of the time)

I fully support BB's approach to the media. For the most part they're vultures and will turn on you at the drop of a hat (see games 1-4 2014)

Not to mention, expanding on injuries/technique/strategy literally does nothing but hurt your team.

Contrast this...

BB's ballsy public palpable disdain and contempt for the league
vs.
Bob Kraft's obsequious ass kissing of the vaunted 31 and repeated "Doing a good job" Goodell butt kissing

GFY Bob

Don't take this as an argument, because I completely agree with you.

But I'm not surprised by Kraft's actions. He's part of a small and exclusive club where people worth hundreds of millions are considered to be the "poor" ones. Pissing off a room full of billionaires (whether justified or not) will never be a good business strategy, unfortunately.

Awesome.

Truth is, BB doesn't hate the media. But he doesn't suffer fools.

As Curran and Reiss have both written many times, if a reporter asks a thoughtful football question, that shows the reporter actually did their job and possibly watched film. BB can be downright verbose in responding enthusiastically.

Rude? Hell no! It's the dumbass media dolts who are being rude with dumbass questions. And why should he show anything but contempt for the NFL?
No, BB is very rude to the media but has his reasons and gets away with it because he's been so successful. They're not all "dumb-ass questions." Most are questions we, as fans, would like hearing answers to. But by now, Pats fans know he ain't saying much, doesn't like saying much, and considers media time a pain-in-the-ass obligation. In fact, he's so rude it's funny: " ... he proceeds to methodically move all microphones back about 18 inches. He then uses his forearms to snowplow the tape recorders away." That's funny stuff but still rude as hell.

Has he ever commented on why he isn't part of the NFL Coaches Association or does anyone know why he isn't? If he has such disdain for the media, the commissioner, etc., why doesn't he go coach high school or Div. III football, college lacrosse or something else that doesn't have as much media attention? He already has all the money he ever needs, he only wants to coach in the NFL because it's the highest level of competition, but hates all of the attention and people (media & league) surrounding the game.

Yes, it's not a good strategy for Kraft to knowingly become a pariah.
Here's the conundrum. The guys seem to despise Kraft ANYWAY if we believe the latest article.
Worse yet, what prevents these billionaires from yet again attacking the Pats, BB, Brady...with another made up crisis?

Because when he is the only HC not to participate in the group photo , and when that opportunity only can happen once a year, it makes him look petty.

Geez, I don't know. Would you want to be in a picture with Pornstache Fisher? Yuck.

IMO it is not just that they despise him. It is not only that they are jealous pricks because his team is the most successful, but what i think flipped that group(of owners) off most was when RK got credit for resolving the CBA and strike. They cant stand that one fellow owners is viewed as more important than the rest of them or their empty suit ommishioner.

As to what prevents them from doing again...... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and in fact they are likely emboldened to rinse-repeat.

I've never understood why I should be mad at BB for not being nice to the media. Why should I care whether he makes their job easier or not or gives a good press conference. He's my coach, I only care that he's making decisions in the best interest of the team and that he's doing his job.

he said he wore it as a shoutout to the St. John's coach who has been sick. So it's he's doing something nice and defying the NFL. I think that's called killing two birds with one stone.

Fight petty with petty. I'm all for it. I wish Brady hadn't gone to their stupid MVP celebration at the SB either. Screw Goodell Screw the NFL. Embrace the hate.

. Everyone knows Champion makes BY FAR the best sweatshirts on the market. That was true 25 years ago and still is today. Nike makes great shoes but their sweatshirts suck. And we know BB knows sweatshirts

I loved the comment Bill made about the officiating (think it was after Denver first time) "Ask the league office, I'm sure they have all the answers."
