so.... on obvious passing downs why not put him in OLB position for pressure purposes?

No, have Guyton give 12 yard cushions to pass catchers, then he can use his speed to make the tackle after the first down.

For some reason I have a feeling Guyton would be a beast in the Colts' system.
Right now, Guyton is arguably our best ILB in terms of coverage. I don't know if you want to weaken the ILB position on passing downs to improve the OLB position unless Guyton really turns into a great pass rusher. I want to give Cunningham a chance. I think he could emerge by midseason as rushers.
I think Spikes will get better at ILB:singing:
I think Cunningham has slowly started looking more comfortable over the first three weeks. Didn't see much time against the Bengals except in the 2nd half, looked ok against the Jets, and I thought played pretty well against the Bills. How much of that is due to the Bills o-line being worse than the Jets I'm not sure, but if he continues his progression this week I expect a couple noticeable plays by him against the Dolphins.
Yea this was a subject braought up before and I think his inability to shed blocks quickly was the issue?? not a 100% sure on that though.
I look at this defense and I see physical talant with poor decision making.
We all know BB runs a cerebral kind of defense and the learning curve is tough.
And at the end of the day even when these guys perform at their best it may not be enough. are we comparing a 4.4 40 guy vs what we had in a 4.8 40 guy with a quicker mind to read the play.. well you know where I am going.
or maybe its a preperation thing. Do they do everything they can to learn about the team they are playing??
BB said something last year that I often think back too. If every player can improve just a little bit.. 1%-3% then collectively that can make a huge difference on the field.
And I think thats where this team is at. Your not going to get perfect play from these guys.. at least not right now.. But maybe they can all step it up a little bit and that might be enough to keep our offense on the field scoring!
