Off season moves

Always that big "IF". Especially with players like Rob, Brogdon, and now Kristaps counted on to play crucial roles for the team next year. Down here in New Orleans, the Pelican fans are frustrated as hell with Zion and Ingram. We are lucky that the Jays stay relatively healthy (Heat game 7 notwithstanding)
Pelicans are a train wreck. Now Zion is the middle of a love triangle with a porn star and a knocked up baby mama

I had to look it up when you said it. I'm not a fan, or much of a follower of the team. It's just interesting to live in an area where a team other than your own is the constant water cooler talk. Kid is wasting his gifts, and I'm sure the big easy isn't helping.

Yes ... great post.
Imagine if Belichick drafted Markelle Fultz .o_O
In order to become a great HC have to learn on the job.. the organization has helped to replenish his staff with proven coaches.. and also what I believe to have someone in place in case Muzzulla isn't the guy. I believe he is just needs seasonsoning.. all the great coaches faced adversity like Muzzulla.. pop, Doc, Phil Jackson so on and so on..

Their issue last year was an undisciplined game, lacked sustained focus and were erratic facing adversity. The had a 1st year coach who was inexperienced in player psyche management. You had players who did way too much free-lancing because they thought they could turn it on/off and it burned them in the ECF.

Mazz was part of the problem but I do think he has upside. Lets see how he does with a vet asst coaching staff consulting him.

I'll be happy once they land a PG.
They need a pure PG and they've need one since rondo left.. someone who's isn't looking to score first.. I really liked Terry rozier.. a true PG who can score anytime he wants.

Not sure "Clearance Rack" is accurate. He was on the verge of opting out. Wiz had no choice but to trade him for a discount. They had zero leverage and Brad took advantage.

Why didn't another team set in with a better offer? Why was only Stevens able to step in? Where were the other GMs?

I love the gamble but Porz was available because other team's didn't want to take the injury risk. I call that the Clearance rack.

Loved Scary Terry but I don't think of him as a pure PG.
True PG in the sense of he can pass, set guys up to get good shots.. he eas asked to score when he was here.. ultimately got himself a nice contract from MJ.

Do these 2nd rounders have any value?
I was thinking about that. I'm thinking a few 2nd rounder are better then a late 1st rounder. After (maybe 10 #1), it's a whimsical situation.

I think he looks for his own shot first but thats me.

Plus, the Wizards are clearly in the middle of a 'blow it ALL up' operation.

Maybe other teams didn't like his contract situation. Maybe other deals were discussed but they couldn't come to terms. Maybe they tried and the other salaries didn't line up. Who knows. Just because Brad closed the deal doesn't mean other teams weren't interested.

Could be other reasons as well. We aren't talking about 1986 Bill Walton who had a foot made of fine china.

Your right he does look for his own shot.. I just was pointing out his abilities to be a distributor. He's become a complete player thr last few seasons... boy my wish is Lamelo!

I definitely would keep Brogdon ... he and white 2 quality PG's and also SG's

I would try to unload Grant Williams ... he does not fit in Mazzulla's and offense too much mouth.

We have alot of scoring options now ..
give me a rebounder ... good defense ... and score in the paint ... lighten the load on Tatum our top rebounder.
That will keep Jaylen Brown on the perimeter ... where he belongs.

Also I would try to unload subpar Al ... a downgrade from average Al ...
He plays hard but all he is good for is defense/rebounds ... that role can be had cheaper.

We need grant William's toughness.. I know the yapping can be annoying but that's how he is wired.. every championship caliber team has a grant William's or had one.. those guys are just guys you absolutely need to bring attitude and toughness. With smart gone.. the only person that brings that bite is Horford and brown..

Mr nice guy tatum it's not in his DNA.. I don't believe the call to trade Marcus was solely on the hands of Steven's wyc and the ownership group likely had some input.. Al was extended so I'd go one more time with al to try to get him his ring.. before he hangs it up.

I want that True PG.. we hadn't had since Rondo

Shoots too much for his role and ability.

He's efficient and he is in That scoring role in Charlotte.
...and that wont work here. Maybe if we needed more scoring but we already have that with Tatum, JB and Porz.

Lamelo shooting .411 from the floor brings us back to the issue we had with Marcus Smart.

Plus he can't stay healthy.

Yeah I get what your saying.. we just need someone at the PG position to put pressure on defenses.. we haven't had that sense rondo. I like brog coming of the bench with the 2nd unit.. Yeah ball has some injury concerns.. elite players rarely play 82 games anymore.. owners fully support load management.. is why teams have to have deep rosters and at least 3 scorers. As you mentioned gabe Vincent would be perfect here.

I really like the idea of Vincent. He might be one of the more affordable PGs in free agency. VanVleet would be awesome but I'm sure he wants to get paid long-term. I don't really know Tre Jones' game, but his 6.6 assists and playing for Pop, show he might be a good option.

As for replacing Smart's toughness, it would be fun (stupid but fun) if the C's loaded the bottom of the roster with a Goon Squad. Imagine if we rolled out a poor man's equivalent of Draymond, the Morris brothers, PJ Tucker and Pat Beverly every time one of those 25 straight point runs starts. We would lead the league in penalty minutes!
