Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I think the divorce definitely has messed with his head. He's missing throws he usually makes. There's no drop off physically from what I've seen it's all mental
Is Fournette getting divorced? He's been much worse than Brady. How about Leftwich? Could explain the curious play-calling.

Maybe the off field stuff is impacting his preparation, or physically like generally his sleep and appetite, but I don't think it's impacting his throws during an actual game. His completion percentage for the season is above his career average and he has only 1 pick in 340 attempts. The entire red zone operation, passing and running, isn't working. If they can improve that, even with the running game continuing to generally suck, then they'll be fine on offense. The defense needs an attitude adjustment and a healthier secondary.

You are what your record says you are.
I agree, after week 18. When they were 7-5 in 2020, everyone was dancing on Brady's grave and the Bucs didn't lose another game. 3-5 isn't as bad as it normally would be because the NFC is down this season and the South is a joke. It's a good bet they win their division as the 4 seed and then blow doors off some wild card opponent from the East. Is anyone afraid of Daniel Jones? Except for maybe the Giants fanbase.

Even if they lose to the Rams this weekend, I'm not giving up on the division. Anything can happen in the postseason.

Sure, the Bucs don’t have a great overall supporting cast, but just looking at the offense, we’ve seen Tom do much more with much less. He isn’t horrible, but this is one of the few times in his career that he’s been unable to elevate the team solely by his own greatness.
This narrative will change if they finish out the season strong. More than half the season is left.

Brady wasn't kidding when he says everyone wants to be Gronk.

That guy is blessed with everything. No wonder he doesn't want to come back to football. Even with his best buddy crying on the phone begging him back.I
I was watching the boob tube yesterday with my darling wife and an add came on with Gronk. Both of us just started smiling.

Not only was he the greatest TE that I ever saw he's one of the most likeable people. At first I was upset with him the way he kept the Pats hanging, but I got over that. Gronk did a lot for kids where I used to live and that made a very favorable impression.

Is Fournette getting divorced?
Yes he is. This offseason his wife gave him an ultimatum: "Stop sucking or I'll divorce you".... and, well.... you can see the results.....

True. There are definitely historical examples of “last run” teams that basically fell apart during midseason before getting it together for one final stretch run. 2012 Ravens absolutely fell apart at one point; 2015 Broncos did the same thing. 2018 Patriots were not as bad but same type of overall narrative. All three teams basically underachieved, were left for dead, and then realized they had all the pieces, got a few lucky bounces, and carried the momentum all the way to a championship. It’s possible the Bucs have some of that. They have a ton of talent and have the opportunity to embrace “us versus the world” if they can get some momentum.

Brady coming back for this season made it much harder to break most of his major regular season records.

However, one day they'll go to 18 games and the rules keep on changing to flag football rules on the QB. Anyone sacking a QB is increasingly at risk of rtp plus they get fined. Several young stud QB playing today will be breaking records with 20 years as a starter.
I can't see any other QB playing enough games (and winning) to catch Brady at anything, even with 18 games.

Don't underestimate the loss of Barrett. That'll put more stress on the injured secondary. If you can't pressure Stafford with that sh*tty OL, it's game over.

There was more than one Pats fan who declared the 2018 season over after a loss to Pissburgh late in the season. I teased them about a bit after the Pats won the SB. I won't name names. :)

Does anyone actually believe they will beat the Rams? This is a get right game but not for TB. If you think Brady is getting rid of the ball quickly now wait until Sunday.

Something is wrong with profootballs HOF metrics showing that Brady only has passed Manning this year.

They overemphasize the AP voted by media and underemphasize playoff performance/championship.

Also Rodgers ball washing wasn't anywhere near Manning's when looking at the number of AP.
I've never liked the idea of the media voting for anything, especially since the Pats have a HC who treats them like sh!t.

I would like to comment about the QBs since I've seen them all play.

Brady - GOAT. And 2nd place isn't close.

PEDton Manning - Besides being a cheater and molester, he had the benefit of being a part of NYFL royalty and was moved to an all-expansion team division, which still blows chunks now. They tried to grease the tracks for him but Brady came along with bags of sand. PEDton's 9 one and done playoffs, many times with the top seed, is a record that will never be touched.

Aaron Rodgers - He does have some skills that are pretty impressive. I'm not so sure that he cares about winning now though.

Johnny U - I'd give anything to see how he could do in this era. He was one of the best of his time. He came and spoke at my HS when I was a kid and that made his stock go even higher than it already was with me. I liked him a lot.

The Rams are having the same type of underachieving season Tampa Bay is. Stafford has been a disaster.

Now I am not confident enough to put my money where my mouth is, but the Bucs are favored and at home, so they certainly stand a good chance.

Yeah they can win but I would never bet on them with their history and the confidence level you can expect from both teams. First drives from both teams will be very important. Tampa needs some confidence they need to score. Such a weird season.

There’s no hope

He isn't wrong.

If the run game isn't working and the oline is giving zero push, then LBs and Safeties don't have to play run first but instead play pass first.

The whole point of PA is you either get the LBs attacking the LOS leaving the middle open or get the safeties to sit instead of playing deep zone which can leave a favorable 1 on 1 open.

On top of that, if the dline can see that it's clearly a PA they won't bother stopping the run and instead get an easy rush on the QB.

The Rams defense is 31st in hurry%, 31st in pressure%, and 32nd in knockdown%... statistically they have an inept pass rush.

They're worse on offense... 28th in points, 30th in yards, 4th in giveaways... they can't run the ball at all and Stafford throws lots of picks.

The Bucs should win this game. Even with the Rams having an obvious coaching advantage.

There’s no hope
Leftwich is a moron. What's his excuse for calling the same sh*tty running plays on short yardage and goal line?

What's his plan? Continue with the most inept running game in the history of the league so he can supposedly setup play-action? I don't think there is any chance their run game is getting any respect now. Fournette went into the season overweight and he blew his wad in week 1... he's been completely useless since. Maybe he's taking his nickname "playoff Lenny" too literally.

I'm all set with Fournette, I want to see more Rachaad White in the run and pass game.

You have to run more PA to also help your run game and keep LBs honest. The problem with the play calling is that they defense knows what's coming on many of the plays. It's easy to call a game vs this offense.

Stats are cool and all but the matchups is what matters. McVay knows how to out do Bowles on offense and the Rams Dline always get to Brady

I was one of them. Owned it all the way, too. I’d rather be wrong about the team and see them win than be right and see them lose.

I would go 4 wide with Brady in the gun and throw it on every down. Uptempo. But that's just me.

Why is it still working than? It’s dumbass leftwhich making excuses for well being the worst OC on the league
