Bill Belichick Press Conference 7:30am (1/8/24)

Patriots can't take too much time. Other candidates are going to be interviewed and snatched up. The longer it takes, the more likely it will be that they miss out on prime candidates.

I would think a decision needs to be made Thu at the absolute latest. Either Bill is here or he isn't.

The good news is that it doesn't matter what you think.

The facts remain. Brady in his prime would make any team he was on a contender.

Bill unfortunately can't say the same.
No

And you've identified your self as someone who has never capitulated a point.

Brady would have carried this 4 win team to the Superbowl. That's the difference between Brady and whatever the **** Bill has been doing.
You are identifying yourself again.

Bill has to address the offense one way or the other.

Like legit there isn't a WR id bring back. Douglas is a utility guy but other then him the rest gotta go.

Howe is one of the most plugged in NE reporters, direct line to Kraft.

I can absolutely see this happening. Bill admits he has ****ed up and gives the keys to the offense fully over to a tandem of Josh and BOB. Josh comes back as QB Coach and Assistant HC, and he brings back some of the guys be poached to Vegas. He and BOB build the staff they’d prefer on offense. Bill cedes final say on personnel to whomever Kraft elects, possibly Wolf, Ziegler or whomever.

Kraft and Bill put a lot of time into McDaniels before he left and they love him and have a lot of faith in him, I could see his return making them both think things are fixable on offense, especially if they are bringing in a new QB.

Maybe I am thinking about this too much but when Josh was here Mac did well. Please, someone tell me that I am being paranoid.

Who are the Prime Candidates?

I think people are missing out on the fact that the NFL created new rules for coaching interviews this year. Coaches can’t be interviewed for a few days if they’re not in the playoffs at all. If they are in the playoffs, they can’t be interviewed until a couple days after the divisional round, which is the weekend after this weekend. So if you want to interview Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik or others, it’s gonna be a couple weeks. Note though that virtual interviews are permitted.

Is there anything preventing you from speaking to their management to let them know you are interested in them and want to discuss things further when the timeline expires?

It’s really the best case scenario. Then draft a QB at 3, and the team could be competitive very quickly

and people called me crazy this morning when I said Bill could be back with concessions and a beefed up coaching staff.

It’s looking more likely that is what will happen with the mcDaniels news.

Unless Kraft really is ready for a 100% clean house rebuild. Which is what would need to be done.

I think that's what's going to happen, now we just need a QB.
