Bill Belichick Press Conference 7:30am (1/8/24)

Now that I think about it, this story about McDaniels getting tossed out there by Howe feels a hell of a lot like a trial balloon by Kraft. “Let’s float this one out there and see how people take it…”
Thats 100% what’s happening here. Kraft must not get it. People arent fed up with the coaching. Theyre fed up with the piss poor talent evaluating. Theyre fed up with the coaching staff being drained and not refilled. And for clarity, they’re is me. ;)

To be fair, Josh did a lot of that draining. He can come back and bring some of the talent with him. But I’m sure BOB has some guys he might want to tap as well. Kraft needs to let those guys build the staff they feel is necessary. Then it comes down to figuring out how to fix the poor drafting, though it has largely just been poor at offensive skill positions and lately kicker. Defensive picks have generally been pretty good and they’ve been picking and developing OL fine enough.

Count me on the “Bring back Josh as Assistant HC/QB Coach, plus Mick Lombardi and whoever else, and let him and BOB run the offense and build the staff they want and work in tandem with Bill and the front office on offensive player selection” train.

Josh was not a successful HC but he knows QBs. He is a good choice to help nurture and refine Drake Maye though having a veteran start the season may be wise. Perhaps he would bring Jimmy along again, who might be fine for a few games.
The key to a rookie QB making it or busting is often the coaching they get (and whether they accept it). McD could be dedicated to nothing else than coaching up the qb. Let BOB be OC.
We would end up with essentially 2 coordinators on each side of the ball. Fill
In the rest of the offensive staff around them and this times into the best coaching staff in the nfl.

It could have the makings of a very good staff. The roster would just need some help at QB and LT, they need all new TEs unless they bring guys back, and there’s a bit of a void at the top of the WR depth chart. Most of that can be filled out in free agency and the draft but tackle may prove difficult.

They have 100 mill to spend

I want Bill to stick around as HC (only) because, in my opinion, he is still an elite coach but also because of the possibility that it would cause Captain Crunch and the rest of the bitter, irrational, unhappy-with-life Bill haters to have finally suffer emotional breakdowns, greatly increasing the possibility that they would stop infecting this site with their posts.

I’m thinking a great way to fix this for the Kraft family and their shield is for Robert to finally walk away. Pass the reins to Johnathon. Let him start up with a new coach, qb ect ect… End of an era but the begging of a complete new one. Plus it would give the organization more than 2-3 years to become viable again. Buys them some time ?
Yeah Fredo is smart....not dumb like everybody thinks. :)

yeah, if you bring Josh back and alot of the guys he took with him. and leg O'Brien bring in his own guys from Alabama i'm not sure what there is to complain about.

I don't think anyone was complaining after 2021 the job Josh did with Mac and getting that team to 10-6.

Yesterday was a little muddy hoping for more clarity in the coming days get the right personnel in place the clock in ticking. You hear that Kraft??

And I hop BB is locked away when "they" are spending it.

Nacua went in the 6th round.

So let me get this straight: you believe we might land a GM who is smarter than all the other 31 GMs and can properly assess Nacua's talent, but who -- like the Rams GM -- will let him slide as 176 players are taken before him?

"Why didn't we take that Pro Bowler in the 6th round?!?!"

Does this make any sense?

Anyone could've taken Nacua earlier. Including the Rams. Every single GM (including the ones we probably want to bring on) passed on Nacua 5 or 6 times.
Let me say McVay is the a Greatest eat your heart out you have been knocking that great innovative young mind for a while instead your has been BB.

They worked together in the past twice. BOB was under Josh and replaced him when he went to Denver. When he got fired, he came back here and replaced BOB who went to Penn State. They have a good working relationship.

I think the plan would be to still have BOB run the offense and have McDaniels focus on the bigger picture - being the QB coach first and foremost, positional coaches doing the right ****, and doing quality control.
ya, but that was before BoBs megalomania that got him run out of Houston. Seems like he was unhappy with limits on his power in NE this time, so bringing in someone over or equal to him ... just doesn't seem like it will fly. OTOH, stranger things have happened.

They are out there and knowing what we know about Mac Josh worked miracles.

We know how it looks when Bill has final say.

Let's see what happens when someone else picks Nacua when we're in desperate need of offensive help instead.
Instead of a choke artist Kicker on a egregious Trade up too how about that Chard WideLefft.

So innovative. He could only manage 3 points. Top 11 offense in NFL history. Throttled.

They didn't look that great against the Bengals either. The worst SB ever played.

And of course they are 15-19 last two years. Lucky they had a string of easy games to end this season. Because until that easy schedule started, the Rams were 8-18 from the start of last year. Worse than the Patriots at a similar point. But you didn't hear people clamoring for McVay's firing.

Love that he scheduled his press conference for 7:30 a.m. to take it out on the likes of Violin who has to get up pretty early for the drive down to Foxboro.
