I'd make Harrison an offer. Sure, a 2nd round pick sounds like a high price, but it is the 32nd pick of the 2nd round, so it won't be so easy-peasy to draft somebody matching Harrison's production and ability at that range. Also, it is probable for us to gain a couple of compensatory pick, which would make less worrysome to "lose" this one (Plus, we will be getting Jets' first for that tempering, right? right?? :p)

@sullymike2 @WilliamsonNFL According to @adbrandt if the wife of a player is making a trip to visit a city, the deal is pretty much done

This would be a great signing, but let's remember that the NYJ have the opportunity to match any offers that he may get.

It would also cost us a 2nd round pick. While I'm all for making an offer to Harrison, I'm not sure that it's very realistic.

I would love this to happen, Harrison IMO is the best run stuffing DT in football. all it would take is a posion pill that he would be the highest paid DT on the team. (3-4DE are DT for tag purposes) a 3 year deal for 15 mill with a 9 mill SB would cost 3.5 of cap space, less than 1/2 of what Wilfork made last year for less on field performance. Wilkenson's is in his team option 5th year making 7 mill this year and next year his salary will balloon to 13 if he is tagged.

Now harrsion is not going to give you the pass rush that Wilfork did at the same stage of thier careers, but he will be better than the 34YO walking thru that door. Siliga, Branch and Harrsion our 3 headed DTs rotation vs the run.

I doubt Patriots would ever trade with the Jets...

Given that, I really believe that 1 or 2 trades will be done before and/or during the Draft...

A weak Secondary dictates a strong DL with a strong pass rush... ;)

Why? BB already gave the jets the right to talk to Branch before he traded him to Seattle. he traded Bledsoe to the Bills, a hell of a lot more risk than the 64th pick in the draft.

So who's wife is visiting foxboro?

So we don't know what mystery players are visiting Foxboro at 11 pm at night on a Sunday... But are their wives there???

I have a feeling the patriots will be very active this week. This is usually the Patriots MO. they wait while all the teams go crazy on the first day of free agency, and then they go after the 2nd tier free agents. I would be pretty happy if we sign pierre Thomas and Stevie Johnson to shore up the offense.

im not sure what we are going to do regarding the cornerback situation though. Dennard/Butler would make a fine #2 (dennard was solid as #2 with talib) but we need a #1.

Well, the best 5 FAs left are Hardy (umm), Clay (Buffalo?), Bowe (Cleveland?), Starks and Crabtree. Then you've got Stevie Johnson and Pierre Thomas.

Any of those guys worth being breathless about?

Right now, the only FA thing which would be WOW!!!!!!! would be prying Justin Houston away from Kansas City (non-exclusive franchise tag is in place, I believe).

And that will cost what (given Suh), 75 million?

This week - hopefully Keenan Lewis, Pierre Thomas and Stevie Johnson

Yea...and they STILL managed to tamper by disclosing the trade compensation to Branch's camp.

There is no way they trade together.

This cannot be true because a dozen threads here tell us that players only value the $ in selecting teams.

I know you're trying to be snarky, but that's a straw man. No one said players only value $. The argument was that players shouldn't be faulted for going for top $. Which is not the same thing.

Stevie Johnson deleted a tweet about taking off in a plane last night.

On a serious notes my guess as soon as he visits New England he will leave with out a contract visit the Jesters and sign.
If I'm Stevie Johnson I look at our secondary and say I could put up big numbers against these guys with my old Offensive coach and my old QB.
I could go back to elite status.
On the other hand I could sign with the Pats and face Revis and or Cromaterie twice a year hmm which sounds like the better business decision.
Of course he'd have Tom effing Brady and Josh McDaniels to invent ways to get him open.
Tough call but I agree he can't leave New England without a contract or he will be a Jet.
We need to pay him accordingly
3 years 12 to 14 Million could do it.

This offseason hasn't had enough Erika Leigh style intrigue.

Considering that he'll be 3rd WR and 4th (sometimes 5th) option in the offense I highly doubt he'll be seeing Revis on him for 50 snaps.

Cromatie is a slightly above average CB. Johnson would do well vs him.

Historically hes done ok vs Revis.

We need to pay him accordingly

There is no way they are coming close to that. Johnson has underachieved in two years and has a history of being a little off-center and if he gets out of hand, he will be cut.
