Content Post Let's Talk Free Agency 2024

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

Are we interested? He’s old but still a very good player. 1 year left on deal for $18M in salary. It’s a cap savings dump for LAC who desperately need to get under the cap so he can probably be had for a low pick.

I would take him for a 5th and extend him 2 years, also sign Ridley. Allen-Ridley-Bourne-Pop for the next 3 years will get the job done. That said, keep drafting and developing.

I like the idea and financials but id probably wait for a more permanent solution ie aiyuk to become available. Unless they’re looking for like a mid rounder

DL is a great area to find free agents. Buffalo has a good one in DaQuan Jones. Remember Lawrence Guy was released. We could use a disrupt or in the interior to pair with Barmore. The two could run stunts This could be a surprisingly effective move, especially as we should go predominantly offense in the draft with our early picks.

Love the idea of a DT. Edge has typically been where teams pay the big money for pass rush, but lots of these mobile QBs can use that against a defense. Disruption up the middle is something that gives everyone trouble. I wouldn't mind building the defense with stud inside guys like Barmore and a FA splurge at DT and then fill on the edge with guys like Anfernee Jennings who are more edge setters and gap control guys, spelled by pass rush specialists.

I'm starting to worry that the real good WRs just aren't ever going to become available except by drafting them or giving up too much for them in trade, like Miami did.

So far Wolfy JR. has done good.
The knee-jerk would have been to start by overpaying your guys, or making some desperate moves or splashes to coax other FA's.
But he's been measured and fair with the deals.

I hope that continues once the cash starts flying. Don't overpay for mediocre or hyped guys!

That's it QB - WR and LT are Premium spots on Offense in that order. Better learn to Draft them or you'll be out of a Job If you don't. That said IF Calvin Ridley is available We should be all in He can help us.

Yeah I don’t think any will hit fa. But id be willing to part with a future 1st for someone who’s worth it

I think we go after 2 high-priced FA's and 2 mid-priced FA's.
That said, if we go after someone like Danielle Hunter we may have to say good-bye to Judon, as he will pretty much sit -in during camp wanting another bump on his salary. His cap hit is around $15M so both parties could benefit from a re-structured deal. Hunter is 3 years younger but it was evident Judon could still play well. If the team knows he won't budge then it would make sense to re-sign Jennings as well because Judon is in the last year of his deal. There will also be a market for Judon so he could be traded if he forces their hand.

I'm getting there, but not this year. If we have the QB and o-line in place next year or so, then I'm up for a trade like that.

1) Jennings and Wilson (or Uche) should be priorities.

2) We should be signing a free safety.

3) EDGE and DL should be a focus. After all, Judon and Barmore are free agents next year. Obviously, we'd all like to see them extened ASAP if possible.

Not sure if this has been recorded in another thread.....Chris Board to be released.

Announcing by 1 pm, that three or more of the following players will be signed, will make my day:

1. Danielle Hunter, Edge (29)
2. Saquon Barkley, RB (27)
3. Christian Wilkins, DT (28)
4. Xavier McKinney, FS (25)
5. Calvin Ridley, WR (29)
6. Patrick Queen, LB (25)
7. Tyron Smith, LT (33)
My money is on Ridley, Smith and McKinney, and maybe Barkley tomorrow. I like Wilkins but I don’t think they’ll spring big cash on a DT when they need to pay Barmore soon.

That haul would have people talking about it for months.
And I agree, Wilkins isn't coming here, for a number of reasons, one of which you stated. I don't think we pay both IDL BIG bucks.

Is it 12 pm est when the signing updates start rolling in?

So is this an indication that the Pats are moving away from the special teams only players?
I hope so yeah, but don’t know if it’s possible to sign guys who are good in ST but also able to for example play a early down LB role

Or minimizing the number of them? I think Schooler (as long as he stops making stupid mistakes) is the new Slater.
