So stevie is the 4th receiver?
It's early. First lets actually get Stevie signed. Then let's see how TC goes. Stevie has the potential to be starting for us. No disrespect meant to LaFell either.

If we sign Stevie have to compare their seasons.
Two receivers I like alot.
That being said would we bring in Patterson if we think he can do some of the things Harvin was going to do for us or just be a kick returner.
Maybe BB can personally teach him and turn him into Moss.

great pick up if they sign him. he had over 30 rec and over 400 yards in 1 start on the 30th ranked pass offense, DA was great in the playoffs but he had 27 rec for 200 yards as pretty much the only game day active WR after LaFell and Edelman on a offense that scored almost 30 a game and with Vereen gone the pats need WR dept bad. hope they sign him

People are worried about Stevie Johnson learning our playbook and you want to bring in Pattrson ? Unless we trade a 7th round pick for him, no thanks.

Johnson, Gibson and Amendola battling for that role I'd think. I'd put my money on Johnson.
How would you know who is competing for what? Stevie is 28 and had 3 seasons w/1000+ yds. There's no guarantee for him but no reason to think he'd merely be competing for the backup job.

I would think that there would only be two established slots at WR, and 3 so-called 'definites' in the passing game:

WR1 - Edelman
WR2 - LaFell
TE1 - Gronk

The rest would likely be variable, and based upon scheme.

Agreed. And there's going to be some opportunity to scheme, particularly if they add a receiving RB. Adding Scott Chandler improves the options for McDaniels.

Johnson has more raw talent than LaFell, he could possibly pass him if he gets signed.

Well, #13 is available.

Talent wise, he's our #1. The question is will he fully commit and take the game seriously and actually run routes where Brady expects him to be? If he does, he could be a deadly weapon for Brady and Josh in this offense.

Hopefully, there's room for the both of them. I didn't really see the need for Johnson given LaFell's performance, but I trust the team's judgement. And I do think you are right there is a lot of upside to the signing.

most likely, the offense will be too complicated for him to learn so we'll never see him play.

they should also look at ex bills WR, mike williams. lol

Stevie would be a great 3rd-4th option. I think he'll really bring something to the "situational football " we play. He's a hard worker, tough and can again is really nice option/weapon to have.

He's 6'2/210. Really nice getting off the los and coming out of his breaks. Known as a somewhat "unique" route runner the guy has knack for getting open.

The wr corp would deep and versatile. I would still like to add someone through the draft though. There are a few really nice options and some value out there.

Ideally, I hope the WR group looks like this next year:

Edelman
LaFell
Johnson
Amendola
Dobson
* Slater

I really hope he's not just another WR they sign and cut late in pre-season
