Antonio Smith accuses Patriots of spying

A back up quarterback moves the ball at will against a powerhouse like the Pats? How do you explain that? Must be spying or scouting or whatever. Kinda fishy isn't it?

EXACTLY! If the Pats did spy how the hell did they let up 31 points to the worst team in football? This is all BS, if you repeat a lie long enough, people will start to believe it!

All this will do is exact yet another beat down by the Pats

Today is not the day to listen to media or to visit other team's message boards. All you hear is "well, they were caught taping practices before, so why discount the posibility that it has happened again?"

They seem completely unaware of the difference between spygate and the Herald/Tomase-liegate that was 5 months later, was disproven, and was retracted.

Somehow all allegations, real and imagined, were lumped into one with a big old "guility" stamp placed upon it, in the minds of the media and Pats haters everywhere.

I almost get tired of correcting them. ALMOST. Someone has to do it though.

One of the frustrating things with that story is that you never hear anyone say "That never happened" or "That turned out to be a false rumor" when someone claims the Patriots taped practices.

When Glenn Ordway did his show on Sirius recently, his co-host repeated that claim and Ordway let it pass without comment. I wish that local media folks who paid attention to the story or even former Patriots players now working in the media would point out that story was false when it's brought up.

Already headlining Skip "Edgar R. Murrow" Bayliss's show at 10:00 am. I refused to turn on Mike and Mike (aka Mangirl and Meathead) this morning. Were they all over this story?

I only listened to Mike & Mike for a short time this morning, but before I turned it off, I heard a preview of some topics they were going to cover. The topics were Alabama dropping in the BCS rankings, Eric Decker catching 4 TDs, and "Have we stumbled into Spygate II?" No mention of Tomlin in there.

In fairness, this was done by their producer as a "comedy" style preview and there were audio clips that went along with the 3 topics, so I imagine that played into the selection of those topics and I can't say how seriously they treated them.

Yawn.

The best comment was the first in the thread: if the Pats had "cheated," they would have beaten this pathetic 2--10 team by a lot more than three points.

Oh man he's on to us,Brady certainly doesn't help by pointing to
that 52 is the Mike guy,I mean how does he really know?

Antonio Smith: "This Brady clown thinks 52's name is Mike. That ain't Mike. That's my buddy Jeff Tarpinian. Wait! Didn't Jeff used to be on the Patriots?! I've cracked the code! Hey coach, Jeff's a hamster!"

Wade Phillips: "A hamster?"

Antonio Smith: "Yeah, you know one of those secret spy guys that joins your side but is secretly working for the other guys?"

Wade Phillips: "You mean a mole?"

Antonio Smith: "Hamster, mole, whatever! They're both amphibians"

Wade Phillips: :ugh:

A tip regarding our 'spygate' scandal - Try referring this incident as CAMERAgate, even when you discuss this with friends and fellow Patsfans, and voila, the entire framing of this controversy changes.

By tagging that incident as 'spygate', you are unconsicously conceding that there was some clandestine activity in question and hence in a tough spot to prove otherwise.

Though damage has been done thanks to BB and Kraft not protesting it and coming out in strong terms back then, we as Pats fans can at least correctly refer the incident instead of blindly parroting what the media and other fans/players smear us with.

I'll frame it as an organized criminal attempt by an associate with close ties to the NY Jets deliberately trying to injure the Patriots brand with the aim of crippling the franchise and giving the NY Jets an unfair competitive advantage. The mongoloidissioner just called for independent arbitration in the Miami scandal...well...what the hell was HE ever doing ruling on the Patriots as a former EMPLOYEE OF THE NY JETS??? How anyone just sloughs THIS off boggles the mind.

TRUE DAT.

Albeit, a 14-month OLD league directive that had been violated WITHOUT NFL ADMONITION/PUNSIHMENT in the previous season (WITHOUT DOUBT) by the same Pats-opponent that accused them and (VERY LIKELY) by the SOUTHERN SQUIDS (considering they 'knew Brady's play calls from "audio game film") as well.

Folks like to forget those 2 components as well. [The age of the memo and lack of previous-enforcement.]

Maybe we should just start enforcing all the 100-year old never-rescinded sodomy laws and have all the actors in Hollywood who play "homosexuals" arrested and thrown in jail for 10 years when their shows are on TV in our communities. Makes about as much sense as taking away a draft pick for enforcement of a year old "ADMINISTRATIVE RULE".

Gumby the original directive may have been 14 months old (at the time) but I seem to recall reading where the league had sent out a reminder to all teams about that directive in 2007 and it's why Goodell was so angry with Belichick. He not only ignored the original directive but also the reminder notice and did so in New York with a staff member openly flouting the rules by standing on the sidelines filming the Jets.
It's like BB was saying F U to the league and it's why Goodell took his pound of flesh. What bothers me is how the media reporting/commentary of that entire affair has been so jaded and agenda driven including some of the Boston media. So many facts about that story were omitted so the issue could be shaped and molded to fit their agenda.
ANY other coach in the league caught doing the same thing and this story is reported in a very different way.

Wade is your DC, the guy is not known for great adjustments, it's why he was an average coach

Completely agree. Both Kraft and Belichick allowed the media to write whatever script they wanted and it went unchallenged. To many folks around this country Belichick's silence and Kraft's docile mea culpa was seen as an admission of guilt re: the media tale that was being written must be accurate because the Patriots are not correcting it. Belichick allowed the very media he so strongly distrusts the ability to permanently tarnish his legacy because he never "set the record straight" and defended himself and explained the LEAGUE WIDE practice of filming the other team.

What I find mildly amusing is that he or all people would think that "new stuff" would actually be the best possible defense vs the Patriots. it might be the new stuff is what messed them up to begin with (in the 2nd half)?

Also, The Texans have been in Wade Phillips scheme for how long (since 2011)? Well Belichick has faced Wade Philips for a far longer period of time...maybe new to Smith is old news to BB.

I seem to remember Belichick smiling all the way through a press conference in the 2007 season shortly after news broke that a Jets employee was escorted off the field for a similar offense in the 2006 Pats-Jets game in Foxborough. In fact, that may have been what provoked the memo that Belichick ignored.

Jimmie Johnson, in the interview that shed light and the media ignored, said that only the away teams had this problem because the home teams have a free shot at the away bench from the press box.

Ok we were spying but it's not what they think. Belichick sent the medical staff by to observe Gary Kubiak, based on the information they determined that us winning by 3 points is all Gary's heart could handle. This is the real reason Belichick had our best running back sit out, McDaniels instructed Brady to play soft toss with Joseph and Patricia told the DB's not to cover Andre Johnson or tackle their running backs.

Talk about gratitude...

I remember that and Bradshaw mentioned how Knoll would have people in the trees spying on the other team.

Also, in the SI football addition for 2007, they have an interview with Peyton Manning were he talks about Belichik and how he is always trying to steal his signs. Peyton even jokes with Bill about it at the Pro-bowl. Good teams know this crap goes on and deal with it.

No they didn't. BB came out and said in his one Spygate presser that he misinterpreted the memo because it had a line saying that the tapes from the sideline were not to be used in the game being played. Since he never used the tapes for use in the in-session game, he thought he could skirt the rule. He was wrong.

Kind of like BB getting confused about the FG push rule.

There is a narrative out there that was set by BB and Kraft but the media totally ignores it.

Re: I wonder if there's a Tony Smith in the NFL

So can we expect Agent Smith from "The Matrix" to chime in after that, now?

"Good afternoooooooooooon, Mister Belichickkkkkkkkkkk!!!"

I sincerley hope Kraft as owner of the team comes out to challenge this. Maybe a nice little Lawyers letter to this ******. Its beyond ridiculous now.

"BB came out and said in his one Spygate presser"......

You make my point. This was a national conversation for the entire 2007 season. BB gave 1 presser? There is not a media member in this nation who would have declined a Belichick interview if given the opportunity. Belichick never took the opportunity. Belichick NEVER put this issue in its' proper context by explaining/educating the public about the use of filming within the NFL. He NEVER put the entire issue in its' proper context, i.e. we are allowed to tape over here but not over here.
BB and Kraft allowed the media to write an inaccurate account of what the Patriots were actually guilty of. Because Belichick refused to defend himself and explain the whole filming process he allowed the media to mis/disinform and forever tarnish his reputation.

Yup, our New England Patriots are frikkn cheatahs! And if you don't like it, too bad. Go cry in the hole you came from!

Otherwise, jump on and enjoy the ride!;)
