Is it possible to be a shutdown CB in this NFL?

It's crucial to lock up Revis. Sure, the new rules may mean more catches, but Revis is still the best CB in football.

Yes, it's still possible to be a shutdown corner in today's game. And quite frankly we have the best one in the league, and the best since Deion Sanders (sorry Ty Law)

Browner plus Dennard plus 12 million to spend elsewhere versus Browner plus Revis. I'm all for signing Revis to a long-term contract but I don't think it's as cut and dried as you make out. Sure, if Revis completely shuts down the opposing top receiver, then yes but if the current rules mean that Revis is giving up four or five catches every game then I think it's a worthwhile debate.

I loved the pickup of Browner from day 1, and since he's came back from suspension I've loved what he's brought to the team, but you don't build a secondary around Browner. You build it around Revis.

I know the Bears are falling apart, but posting a shut out vs Marshall and Jeffries is no easy task, and Revis did that. Revis had one bad drive vs the "best offense in football" but besides that he was great that game. Did he even pop up in the screen second half? Cuz I didn't notice him.

I know people want perfection, but if your limiting opposing teams #1 to 4-5 catches for around 50-60 yards, I'll take that. Just think about that for a second, and imagine an opposing team covering Gronk 1v1 and limiting him to those numbers, with 0 TD's (almost impossible I know)

This secondary can carry this defense to a SB, and having a shutdown corner like Revis is the main reason for it.

And it's not 4-5 catches it's 2 and a half.
