I do not remember a member of the coaching staff returning to the Patriots sideline after leaving here....ever before now.

Belichick left briefly as a NY Jet for a few hours :) but that doesn't count.

I can remember some players returning over the past few decades like Deion Branch for example..but never a coach.

Has it ever happened before?

Belichick was a Jet for three full seasons, how does that not count?

With that being said I'm sure there are others, but they'd have been before my time.

Greetings,
No, running backs coach Ivan Fears is one.

Trying to forget Belichick's Jet career,O.k.?

Dante Scarnecchia has spent the majority of his professional coaching career with the Patriots, joining them in 1982 and only leaving in 1989 to coach with the Indianapolis Colts, before returning to the Patriots two years later.

Bill Parcells, Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis have also returned as coaches.

rod rust left the pats in 89.. to go coach the stillers and then came back to be the hc of the nep... we all know how that experience turned out...:bricks:

This is acutally BBs 3rd stint with the Pats. He and Ernie Adams were quality control/film geeks for Chuck Fairbanks.

Josh Mc Daniels will be the next HC of NEP...mark it down.
Thats the only reason he is back.
I predict the 2014 season.

You need to watch BB- A Football Life. BB says that he doesn't anticipate giving up the life anytime soon. Loves coaching, etc.

I do think that he sees his role evolving though. Hes 56. Not a spring chicken anymore...

Neat! Didn't know that! Are there any online articles quoting BB on the experience?

He'll be 60 in April. He'll be close to turning 62 at the end of what we think is his contract ending after 2013. We'll see what happens after that, I could see it going either way.

Thanks for the correction. My bad on the age.

Good point on the contract situation. Hmmm. Maybe he will transition to something else....

I guess you never know, but 62 isn't that old. I don't think he'd totally retire then, but I could see him gradually handing more responsibilty to the coordinators.
