Absolutely. And it would definitely be a disappointment if Revis left- that said I think we all feel pretty good about our chances.Oh don't get it wrong i love DMac, think he's easily one of the best safeties in the game but i'm just stating the disparity between the two. DMac is great, Revis is LEGENDARY. We're talking about a corner that will be mentioned with Deion when he retires.....
No shame in DMac being a distance from Revis but the great thing is he's young and can forge his own legacy which he is already doing at the safety position.
Pulling for them to get him. Want the Jags and Texans to shut the Colts up.They gotta get Demarco Murray. They just gotta...
Devin McCourty to remain with New England Patriots
Gregg Rosenthal
Around The NFL Editor
Devin McCourty won't test free agency after all. He's staying with the Patriots are keeping McCourty according to two sources informed of his thinking. New England held on to the prized safety after a hard push from the Jaguars, Eagles, and Giants.
Around the NFL will have more on this story soon.
......
[he] rated 2of the 101 free agents on the market......
Eagles and Giants both wanted him badly, and now must look to free agent options like Antrel Rolle and Rahim Moore as fallback options. ......Of course, Darrelle Revis was just as valuable to the rebuilt New England secondary.
With McCourty under contract, attention will now turn to Revis' deal. He's due $20 million in 2015, including a huge roster bonus due Tuesday. The Patriots have been working on keeping both players, so it wouldn't be fair to say the team prioritized McCourty over Revis. But McCourty's contract always was the simpler one to get done. Tom Curran of Comcast Sports New England wrote earlier Sunday it was a "pretty good bet" that the team keeps both players. They are halfway home.
Very interesting bit.@MikeReiss: Devin McCourty called Bill Belichick to tell him he was ready to sign elsewhere, which led to Patriots' final pitch: http://t.co/IVEfI4ublQ
