It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Assuming restructures will resolve this, however, if not cut Sanu instead of getting rid of Gilmore.Gilmore is gone. With less than 1M in cap space, I can't see how we can keep him.
Yeah Sanu should be gone for sure.Assuming restructures will resolve this, however, if not cut Sanu instead of getting rid of Gilmore.
If this is a full evaluation/rebuild year, I could see a Gilly trade for pick(s) and then using that draft capital to build the roster.Assuming restructures will resolve this, however, if not cut Sanu instead of getting rid of Gilmore.
Completely agreeIf this is a full evaluation/rebuild year, I could see a Gilly trade for pick(s) and then using that draft capital to build the roster.
The Patriots plan to compete this year. They picked up Jason McCourty's option, signed his brother Devin, franchised Joe Thuney, and re-signed Matthew Slater.

It is early, but this is the worst analysis of the year, by far. There is exactly ZERO reason to trade Gilmore for picks in the hope that we could acquire someone as good as Gilmore next year. Cutting your best player, in his prime, is just plain NUTS!
Consider that we have zero. We need a couple of million for the draft and say another 8 for the rest of the year (not counting relatively expensive free agents). That is a TOTAL of $10M.
There are many, many ways to find that money and lots more.
Restructures (with zero changes in compensation)
-------------------------------
$6.5M Gilmore
$2.5M Edelman
$2.3M Cannon
$3.1M Mason
-------
$14.4M total
Cut Or Trade
----------------
$6.5M Sanu
$4.5M Cannon
$14.5M Thuney
$8.0M Hightower
-------
$33.5M total less cost of replacement players
Extensions (this could be lots of cap space)
-------------
Thuney
Gilmore
Hightower
1)work on thuney extension to get some cap relief.
2)if talks don’t go anywhere, trade him for picks.
Thanks, my take wasn't an "analysis" but just a thought.
Ok, we all have strange thoughts sometimes.
Ok.You are chief among them...
how do you know what he can or can't do? he hasn't started a regular season game yet. it's his second year. let the kid play a couple of games at least before you pass judgment. With what QB? Stidham can’t carry the jock strap of 01 versions of brady or Bledsoe
Our current salary cap situation buys us about one minimum salary player
like Ferentz. I expect to see a trade soon for Thuney for a #3 pick at most.
for the best of the team.
