Bill probably told him to get off the field; no need to field questions from the Michelle Tafoyas of the world when there's a more important game to focus on next week. Randy's been vindicated in everyone but the media's eyes, but there's no need for that distraction.
Perhaps he was avoiding the media circus that could have resulted from his being around after the events of the last week-plus. If that is the case, he was doing something for his teammates, allowing them to celebrate and not have that dampened by questions unrelated to football.

Great point. It never occurred to me that Bill would tell Randy he did not have to stay on the field if he was uncomfortable. I can see Belichick saying that.
