I stumbled across this article about how Tom Brady trains. Its long but pretty interesting. By the way it sounds Graps may have to wait a long time to get his shot.

It's a November Monday morning in Foxborough, Mass., and the center's owner, Patriotsquarterback Tom Brady, has already received treatment and spoken to his neuropsychologist via Skype. The day before, he obliterated the Lions, topping 300 passing yards for the 63rd time, tying Dan Marino for No. 3 on that list. Perhaps he celebrated with ice cream, though his would have been made from raw ingredients, mostly vegetables -- he favors an avocado base with cacao mixed in to mimic chocolate. "Tastes great," Brady says later, not all that convincingly.

Look... up in the f****** sky...

There's no question that his preparation, diet, recovery, preventative work, and mental sharpening are all elite. Incredibly elite. Combine that work ethic with his now virtually bottomless capital and he'll obviously have a remarkable program.

I also think that a lot of this is attributed to how far sports medicine has advanced. What we know now compared to when he won his last Super Bowl is a completely different era. Plus, he also has access to treatments that are almost science fiction like regenokine. I'd also completely expect him to be receiving TRT treatment which is really the big one. Diet, prep, rehab and prehab are all great but when the endocrine system goes so does everything else, especially recovery.

The most predictable, amusing-yet-discouraging part about that article is the steroid accusations in the comment section.

More posts RE: Brady's genitals, plox

I never read the comment section on any Pats piece from a national publication for that very reason. I'd rather drag my genitals through a pile of glass shards.

Thankfully I don't have enough experience with that to use it as a viable basis of comparison, but I'll take your word for it. :)

I read this article early it is very interesting. Brady is a special person, beyond football I look at him and see a person who is very motivated and focused on being the best he can be at everything he does. The discipline he displays is remarkable.

Title should probably include that this thread is about the SI article

Two thoughts on the business:
  • It makes a lot more sense if Brady can keep playing for a long time.
  • If you asked me about a business of "Have a great body like mine, which is pretty darned good even though I'm a little past my prime", my first thought of the proprietor would have been a supermodel.

Mayo: here's a very old article about Polamalu that points in a similar direction, though via Eastern European approaches, rather than Chinese ones.

I've got the book of Troy Polamalu's trainers. It's basically his warmup. His warmup is a very good workout for us average joes. It's a very interesting workout I can do at home and get postural and athletic benefits with minimal time and effort. It's quite genius in my opinion.

I don't know how anyone could eat vegetable ice cream
Avocado sounds like a decent healthy alternative. A very nutritious source of healthy fat. While I would prefer the real deal, I wouldn't mind trying some of that.

Avocado is actually a fruit, not a veggie and it makes an awesome dessert. I use it with dark cocoa to make dark chocolate pudding, which is awesome and we also make avocado creme brûlée. My dad was utterly appalled by that until he actually ate it for Thanksgiving dessert. He cleaned his bowl. I don't know about ice cream but I would definitely try it.
