OT: So, how are people dealing with this, beyond eating and watching TV?

I posted in the Pub forum a great puzzle site. Have been doing leg lifts and riding a stationary bike while watching Cheer reruns. Learning how to play chess...Feel for kids who are basically jailed.

I started learning to rollerblade but stopped because I don't want to have to go to the hospital if I break a bone.

Do you have crash pads and helmet?

My gear includes: Helmet, wrist guards, elbow/knee pads, crash shorts, travel backpack w/hydrobadder and strawtube. If you are going out for long rides the backpack is key, you can stop and have a drink when you need it, also have your phone/wallet if you want to stop at a store, or get lost/find a better skate spot.

When you are fully geared up, it's a whole new ball game.

Yes, several times a night if I can.

You come out to your Dad several times per night?

You’d think he’d only want to hear it once

Right now I'm just trying to get from one side of the parking lot to the other without looking like an idiot. I do have a helmet, wristguards, elbow pads, knee pads.

I work, play 1st grade teacher, workout, run. And drink a lot of alcohol. Mu wife bought me a mountain bike, but it hasn't shown up yet.

Yeah it's a little ritual I do to try to remember him when he was alive.

Lol. This is nothing like the other threads that just turned into political nonsense.

Sure I could've ignore those threads, but that doesn't do anything as it doesn't solve the fact people are loitering in those threads.

There you go with your condescending loitering snobbery. That's harsh and hurtful man. Seriously, what difference does it make where some of us loiter if you aren't there? Just cause your single and can loiter at pornhub or wherever don't judge us!

That's beautiful

I miss rollerblading when I was a kid. Sometime I think about trying to bring it back, but it would just be ridiculous now. I'd be like 6'9" on rollerblades. Falling would really suck

Back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, I used to rollerblade with my two teenaged sons. This was before “gear.” I loved it. It was great. Kinda like riding a motorcycle but on foot. I was great at it, too. Except for one thing - no matter how hard the kids tried to teach it to me, I could not learn how to stop without either catapulting into space or falling flat on my face. We finally devised a system whereby I would scream out, “Stop me,” and one or both of the boys would skate in front of, turn around, grab me and steady me to a stop.
Skating’s easy. Stopping’s hard.

Joker is that you walking down the road? What's in your back pocket. Looks like a machete handle, lol

Just the handle though

I'm told I won't be going home anytime soon after all...so my days are, like many here, very predictable-ish. Coca-cola, sometimes war...

In all seriousness, it stays busy here, so far...once the Rona hits here for real, it'll get interesting.

So no meeting up with GF?

I know there's a lot you can't talk about, but do you know what the demographics of the 13 military that died from the virus? I can't imagine they are 70 yo.

Sadly, no meeting up. We had already cancelled our wedding in June, so we were already going to do something far smaller at some point over the summer. I'm already earmarking a portion of that extra cash for whatever she wants lol

Unfortunately, we are told very very little about anything going on regarding military COVID cases. There's rumors of cases at forward deployed locations, but nothing official has been thrown our way. I know as little as anyone else in that regard. I do know we don't have the facilities to handle a swarm of patients in need of hospitalization, but hoping that since most of us are young-ish and healthy, we should be ok.
