It sucks to say, but i would be more than happy to lose out the rest of the season. We should have been more active to try to be sellers in the trade dead line. Sadly that ship has sailed. I want to focus on developing young guys and getting a high draft pick. I have always been of the mind that any year without a super bowl win is a bad year. While that may be a bit over the top at times, I stay with that sentiment for the most part. Any action should be to meet that end. I'd rather be a team that's bad most of the time and occasionally wins than a team that's good all the time but never has a real chance. So the only way to salvage this season is to us it to increase our odds of winning the championship to the highest degree we can. Look at the Rams, from 99-now they have lost more games than they won, but they have 4 appearances and 2 titles in that time. Would you really rather be Dallas for those years? I wouldn't.
Mac isn't the guy. These WRs and TEs aren't getting it done. We need more of a pass catching threat out of the RB position. Basically we need to rebuild the offense from the ground up. The OL as well. We need to accept we are in a rebuilding cycle (not year... we need multiple ones) and should do what it takes to help move things along. And that means not worrying about guys who will be 30 or older by the time we're ready to go. And not keeping players are key spots who are bad value. And not picking higher in the draft than we need to. I want to pick first or second overall this year. The difference between 5-12 vs 3-14 could be the difference between spot 2 and spot 8. That is a massive value difference. And not just for round 1. People focus on getting the higher first round pick but often under estimate how important higher picks are in round 2 as well, even round 3 matters to a degree. Though the difference between 66 and 71 isn't so big really when all is said and done.
So I hope we lose, I hope we get rid of these bad contracts, and I hope we look to go young all around as we build towards what is likely a 3 year reset.
