The Pats' FA Class is Straightforward

Must sign

Onwenu
Jennings
Henry - if dollars are right . Hopefully in 8 -10 mill range
Pharoah brown
Mac wilson

Nice to have

Zeke
Bourne
Dugger - if dollars are cheap. No point waiting dollars on a safety when we have Phillips and peppers. Bryant can also do some decent open field tackling.
Bryant

Rest all ignore

Trade away
Juju
Parker

Acquire

Like this list. I can't make up my mind on Dugger. Last year, I was sold and hoping they'd lock him up. this year, he seemed almost disinterested at times. Plus, he's basically redundant with Peppers, who I like better. At the same time, hate to lose any talent, and he's got it. I suppose that is the definition of "nice to have." (haha)

Wilson has shown up more of late, and I'd rather keep him than look for another low-value FA, or risk a draft pick.
- he's only 25 and shouldn't have a hot market

Dugger will cost too much, and has shown to be a coverage liability. Peppers is the new leader of the D.

Bryant has been a polarizing player, but in the right role, he's a decent role-player. If he takes the hometown discount, could stay

Henry is solid at pass catching but sucks as a run blocker. Unfortunately, aside from signing Bowers there isn’t and upgrade to be found so they are probably gonna find themselves overpaying again for his services.

Bourne's ACL might end up being the best thing for us. It will lower his market in FA, and maybe allow us to work another 3-year deal out.
I'd love to keep him, I think he'll be fine having 8+ months before TC. Hoping the new GM will see the value in keeping guys that are the best playmakers on your team (eh hem, Meyers) and rewarding them helps the overall value as a FA-destination for others.

After watching the frustration here, I’m not surprised to see two top-end FAs get reamed on teams that have disappointed.

Means nothing, particularly with OL, which few can truly judge. These are two top-15 tackles at their respective sides, and Brown doesn’t miss games, which is huge.

You’re going to pay top dollar in FA, and with your own, and an A-level player is going to be paid near the top of the position whether he’s #1 or #15 because of scarcity and rising salary caps. This is just reality.

The Chiefs have struggled since losing Brown. That was the biggest whiff by BB this year. Don’t give me Reiff when Orlando Brown is sitting there!
Holy cow. Signing Brown or McGlinchey would mean having $80m guaranteed on your cap for 4 years.

Reiff was the worst OT in the history of the NFL, but the signing of Reiff was an infinitely better outcome than being on the hook for $80m for someone who can't block.

Myles Bryant is a good example of someone BB would probably extend to a 3 year 10-12 million deal as a depth piece in the secondary. A new GM arguably wouldn’t pay him above the vet. minimum.

570 yards (103rd/133)
80.8 comp pct. against (128th/133)
107.2 passer rating against (103rd/133)

The pats have to stop overpaying depth players. Bryant is a liability vs. good offenses & can be upgraded even as a depth CB IMO.

Agreed, it would be nice to get him ...

Was looking at his OTC page... its his first crack at free agency, and he will be costly

Yeah we have the $$$$ pair Higgins with one of those young QB's Penix or Nix and we are back in business.

Orlando Brown has been one of the top 10-15 for OTs for years, and he never misses games. Don’t know what you’re talking about here. He’s a known and very very good player.

You and BB think you can get proven FA players for nothing these days?? Keep Dreaming there is no Brady or Mahomes @ QB for the Patriots. I hope our Next GM Tags Onwenu keep him @ RT and Draft a Left Tackle with upside.

Bourne for me is a must sign if he comes back anywhere near the same level, worry is his pace is gone after the injury.

If there are major changes with the coaching staff, I think it’s far from guaranteed that the new coaches see Onwenu as a tackle. He’s just such an outlier there, either 40ish pounds heavier than the other recent tackles around his height or 5ish inches shorter than tackles around his weight. It sure seems like the Patriots have been among the most flexible with their tackle measurables, staring two of the three tackles under 6’3” in recent years (the third being Kelvin Beachum, now with the Cardinals).

Onwenu is a must sign.

Would like to keep Henry. He's proven he can produce given the QB isn't Mac.

Jennings has looked great since he's been given PT, he would be a solid starter or great rotation guy. Unless he gets a huge contract, it would be ashamed if we lose him after developing him.

Bourne is a solid receiver. We should sign him with an eye towards getting a real #1 option.

Keeping the Duggar/Peppers duo would ensure the backend of our defense remains one of the best in the league. You have to pay for good players.

You need to explain what you mean by all this because I said nothing like that. You made that all up.

What I did say is that the Patriots shouldn't spend $80m on bad tackles.

But that's what you're hoping for? Explain.

OnWenu is our saving grace at RT we just need a LT either in FA or the Draft our Interior is pretty set Sow - Mafi and that Strange guy should all improve. My hope is BB is not Drafting or Spending our FA $$$$$.

There are no LTs in FA. That's the point. Trent Brown is about to make huge money because he's the best and only one.

Unless someone gets cut, which is possible. Cowboys can cut Smith since they're paying him a lot and they drafted his replacement last year. He's very old.

But there are no LTs available.

This is the whole problem with what happened in the Strange draft 2 years ago. Clearly, Belichick wanted a LT, then 6 LTs got taken before our pick, and there was no one left.

You are basically saying Orlando Brown ain't worth the FA $$$$$ he got.
Yes, obviously. It's $80m guaranteed for a guy that has given up a lot of sacks.

That's the kind of horrible deal that kills a franchise. They won't get out from under that terrible contract for 3 more yrs. They need to protect their QB and they can't.
